I've overclocked it with Lightspeed to 265mhz and it benchmarks at around 145%. But I still have a problem with it getting choppy in parts. Has anyone else tried TCPMP on the NX and had great results? If so, could you tell me what your settings are? Thanks in advance.
BTW, TCPMP is located here (http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/download).

I think you need to give more information.
What are you trying to play with TCPMP?
What length \ minutes?
What Size? MB?
What codec encoded to?
What codec is TCPMP loading?
Have you benchmarked via TCPMP?
What frame rate?
How much memory free in RAM?
What CF \ MS Card? What Speed?
I'm sure you get the picture...
I get the odd chop or two but mostly on both my Treo600 and NX73 movies are acceptable. The quality on the NX is almost DVD with the right encoding and other parameters.

cRunchy, what resolution do you use on your NX?
What are the best settings your device is capable playing?

Resolution for PocketDivX Encoder is its standard PDA (300 width maximum) however as I pointed out above with those questions it totally depends on the original movie I am trying to encode.
There is just not one factor to consider. Other factors include which codec used, what encoder used, what bitrate for both sound and video, resolution, FPS etc....
I actually prefer using VirtualDub (VD) and encoding with Xvid (Nic's version) by setting my bitrate (for video) to between 350 and 700 KBps and quantising to about 2 or 3. (A lot of original divx video tend to be encoded for the PC at about 1500 Kbps.)
Audio is dependant on whether film or music but for the Clie and music I will use about 4 to 5 kbs stereo. Films are just as good in mono often as not being a wide screen cinema the clie doesn't need the sound of a jet plane going from one ear to the other :)
As to resolution with VD.. That really depends as VD only easily has the ability to divide by 2 so sometimes with a PC full screen XVid video I just reduce it by half which is OK.
One of the problems is that choppyness can be a function of memory card speed but it can also be a function of whatever background apps are running or the overall size and quality of the image being processed.
For me TCMCP does a good job however I have found that some of the earlier versions are a bit quicker.
Part of the problem also is the Clie screen itself. On very fast video there is a very slight ghosting. Also at scene changes there is a difinitive wipe (like slide change) effect but I doubt we can push the Clie any faster.
Whilst it might be usefull to clock the Clie I think there is more to the question than that. If properly encoded the clie CPU should be able to cope with 20 to 25 FPS but there is also the question of card memory driver speed and the speed of the card itself. The video mechanics add to the problem of choppyness to.
I think also an important area that people often miss is size of the audio stream. Sometimes when reducing the resolution of the video you can find that the audio included take up to a third of the overall size. The player has to cope with this as well and will dy default choose to drop video frames (become choppy) rather than loose audio quality. Sometime reducing audio quality at encode stage can reduce video choppyness.
As a test I have encoded the same video with VD and PocketDivX. PocketDivX is great for fast batch conversion where you know the original video is in good shape. VD comes out on top where you need to tweak things a little.
As an experiment I would suggest deleting some of the TCPMP codecs. I find just having:
mpeg4_plugin
ac3_plugin
mp3_plugin
works well enough for most divx & xvid. Actually it would be interesting to find out whether the ffmpeg_plugin or the mpeg4_plugin is loaded by default for xvid\divx movies... and which one is less memory \ CPU hungry (I suspect the mpeg4 plugin is lighter on the CPU..)..
Sorry I wrote a lot there. Got going and couldn't stop

Thanx a lot!
I liked to read every bit of information you wrote :-)
Most of the time i am ucing PocketDivx for movie conversion. I use Half of the original resolution and highest quality audio stream quality (64kbps, stereo).
My memory card is a noname CF 1GB.
I did not notice any serious problems at all. Maybee is it sometimes choppy, or a little bit distorted, but i do not mind...

Wow, thank you for the very comprehensive post cRunchy. I'm sure that that info is going to be very useful to the community.

I tend to encode films to the same sort of rate as the MQV encoder; i.e. 320x200, 15fps.
My TH55 starts to choke if I run anything much higher than that. Mainly it's the data bit-rate - I can play 480x320 30fps at the same bitrate fairly smoothly, but the encoder really struggles to maintain quality at that kind of data rate (esp. high-motion scenes!) and the image quality is often worse than at 320x200!
I have successfully played a 30fps ~700x~400 (DVD res, forget exact size) clip on my Zodiac at full frame rate with only a 0.5% frame drop and minimal slowdown during high-motion scenes (Which my TH55 barfs on, and even my friend's T|3 chugs a bit!),which was really friggin' impressive... I'm incredibly jealous Sony didn't put that ATI Imageon chip in the TH now!!! :D
But again I send kudos to picard for coding for the accelerator chips...
Hey, thats a point actually - Do the other OS5 Clies have accelerator chips?
The one in the TH55 only really helps with rotation and scaling, but it definitely helps a lot. My OS4 T665 had a graphics accelerator too (Used by Warfare and those ultra-slick Tsa Bro's scene demos for instance), and if the NX, NZ etc. Clies have a similar thing, maybe picard can work his magic and implement those too!
So... the question is... do they?
