Well loving my new SJ33 except it doesn't come with a cradle.

Is there anyway I can setup a shortcut so I don't have to manually go and find the hotsync program?

I don't want to use one of the 5 buttons which are programmable. Ideally I could do a grafiti stroke or something. I can't find anything...

I started using EasyLaunch on my SJ33.  I really like this program.  It is a hack, however, so you need another program to manage the hack.  I use XMaster, and it has been very stable and easy to use.  If you need more information, search the threads here at ClieSource.  There was a good one within the last month or so, that talked about ways to setup EasyLaunch.  I set mine up so with a swipe of my stylus I can turn the SJ33 off; a different one toggles the backlight on/off; and another toggles between current and previous application.  I then added functions to my buttons, so if I just press then let go, they work as advertised.  But if I push and hold the buttons, they run other applications.  It's a very cool program!:)

Here's what I did:

-Get X-Master (for managing Hacks)
-Get AppHack (not sure if free) (http://www.daggerware.com/apphack.htm)
-Get SyncNow (not free unfortunately)

AppHack lets you run applications by using a combination of 2 presses of the hardware buttons, SyncNow is an application which runs the HotSync app and actually presses the hotsync "symbol" to start the actual hotsync process.

So the way I did it is I set up AppHack to run SyncNow when I press the DateBook and then the Up or Down rocker. Now all I have to do to hotsync is just 2 keypresses and I'm hotsyncing away without reaching for the stylus etc.

It's also great for frequently used apps - the combination of 2 presses gives you something like 25 applications you can launch so as AppHack's site says "you might never use a launcher again"

Good luck,

Mars

Aces' suggestion is the best. EasyLaunch is free and has a small footprint. You'll love it.

Definitely get Easylaunch, it's great & made me decide not to spend the money on a cradle. You can program one of your buttons so you hold it down to do a hotsync & you don't have to waste your normal button assignments. It also allows you to set up various strokes to launch other applications or perform actions which is handy (e.g. pen stroke from find to calc, application to menu, etc etc) You can find it on Palmgear.com

i third (fourth?) the xmaster/easylaunch combo.
this is my solution:

since i use DateBk5, i almost never use my todo app on its own, so i used easylaunch to turn my todo button into my hotsync button... push it, and it automatically begins the hotsync, even if power is off. if i push and hold the todo button, it goes to the todo app (next to never).
