Does anyone know how to activate short cuts in TG50? I'm talking about typing me for meeting, br for breakfast, lu for lunch and so forth. I've tried to do this in popup graffitti area, but it doesn't work (!@#!@#!). Any idea????

I'd like to know this as well, because on the T|W it has a dedicated button for the command key and also one for the shortcut key (that little cursive L like thing in Graffiti). These are two important keys that I think are strangely absent from the Sony keyboard.
A shortcut key would be nice, even though it works fine in the popup grafiti. I don't know why you're having problems with the shortcut symbol.
As for the forward slash, it doesn't work, but I don't miss it since there are equivalents for the slash commands using the keyboard.
Regardless, someone seriously needs to write a simple utility that lets us map keys to the shortcut function. Doesn't sound hard, does it? And while they're at it, give the two round hardware buttons the ability to power the unit on! What a silly oversight!
On the positive side, (I'll probably get blasted for this), I'm starting to actually love the power button slide thing!
Looking forward to that utility...

I know the shorcut symbol is available in Graffitit, but it is a nuisance to have to open Graffiti, enter the text then close Graffiti.
After trying to use the TG50 for two weeks now, I'm starting to have serious reservations about it. I hear an annoying buzzing sound when listening to MP3s (it's been reported in other threads), and I'm still adjusting to the keyboard. Honestly, I've given the NX60 some passing thoughts. I would miss not being able to use my KB11 folding keyboard but I still have my SJ20 that I use for backup purposes. The NX60 has an MP3 remote control wand that is awesome.
I may be posting my NX60 on ebay soon. I agree with the comment about the wand, and I do miss it. But I love the TG50 enough to prefer it to the NX60. I don't mind the buzz, since I don't listen to alot of MP3s, and they may come out with a patch some time to help this.

Thanks for the info JoeT. I've been thinking about the NX60 because of the extra screen real estate. From what I'm seeing and how I feel about it I will probably get a NX60 and then upgrade to a NX73 (which I think will be $499 at launch, if it exists) depending on what features it has. I synchronized a couple of times with Bluetooh on my TG50 but my main PC is another room and a HotSync is a slow process. I've read that a wireless HotSync through the WiFi card is a bit faster and easier to deal with. I already have a Wireless router (a Compaq iPaq model of all things), and I'm looking at getting DSL for XBox live and a better internet connection.

Joe, you were right. It does work. I had a language program that was conflicting with the short cut activation. Thanks.
:) Happy to oblige.
Let me know if you ever see a keyboard utility that let's us do this with a keystroke instead of grafiti.
Hope you're enjoying the TG as much as I am!

JoeT what are some of the keyboard equivalants you speak of? Are there keyboard commands for OK and Cancel?
I don't know of any shortcuts other than the ones in the manual (someone posted them here in other thread I think). I also use Okey, a utility that allows you to keep the jogdial pressed to highlight some of the buttons in certain applications, then jog through the buttons and press again. I've been able to hit "okay" and "cancel" this way for many apps.

I know this seems odd but I'd still love to be able to access Keyboard hack. Why? Because it's easier to use that to punch in the odd symbol and international characters that I often use.
The problem is that it expects that the user can tap the ABC/123 corners of the Graffiti area which the TG50 (virtual and otherwise) does not have.
Does anyone have suggestions? I think this kind of falls into the same idea that an early post mentioned about how great it'd be being able to map some things to the keyboard (or even key combos).
cheers,
