This isn't anything special, just your regular, 16MB Memory Stick (Sony brand I might add).  I was using the voice recorder and then the Clie just froze.  I reset it using the Reset hole and since then it can't see any files on the MS.  I put the stick in my CyberShot and took a couple of pics and I can view the pics on the camera itself but when I look on either the Clie or the computer they don't show.

Also I deleted all the files & folders that were there since they're all empty and it still shows that 8.64MB out of 16MB is being used.  WTF?!  Glad I didn't have anything important on there, though it is a hassle to have to go take those pics again  (of some homework....didn't feel like copying:p)

Any ideas as far as what happened or how i can get it all back?

Go to Card Info, pull down the drop down menu, and reformat the card. That should take care  of it. When you deleted the files,  all it deleted was the information that was on the card, for some reason it didn't delete the data as well.

:D So this means I loose the information on the card?  Is there any way to get the data back?

If you had asked before you wrote to the card, you *may* have been able to restore some files.

I had something similar happen to a CF card in a camera, and I picked up a program called PhotoRescue PC. Sort of an updated Norton Undelete for camera media.

Anyway, it's *possible* something similar exists for a PDA, or even that the same program might help. There's a free demo that will let you try it out.

No, once you deleted the files, it erased all the information relating to what those files were named, and where they were located on the card. Think of is as ripping the table of contents and index out of a book, all you have left is the words. You would need some sort of program to go in and recover the files, and I don't think that one is around for PDAs.

But from what I understand it deletes that information from the FAT, which is what is constantly reporting the size of the media and what is allocated. If I had deleted the files, why does the space still show as being used?

And how/why did this happen in the 1st place?!

perhaps your MS is corrupted like my Sony 32MB MS....
