I have a Tungsten E that is not working. When it crashed I kept receiving a fatal message error and everytime I would reset it the handheld would totally wipe out all data and start all over. Can anyone help me with this.. What can I do to clear this error. and reset it without starting all over.

Yes, a hard reset it would not allow me to just tap reset in the fatal error screen. So I had to hard reset it everytime

Any error message beyond Fatal Alert? What third party apps are you running?

If you haven't already, you should install the Docs to Go update to 6.008 available at DataViz.com. Have your registration number handy to log in.

After the hard reset..remove the backup folder in your username folder...later try transferring the prc's until u get to know the one that gives u the fatal error thing:)

I stop using my tungsten E after the fatal error kept occurring and I thought I lost the ability to turn it on and off becase the on and off switch fell out. Recently I pulled it out and started all over and now I am not receiving this error message because those files are gone from my E and my PC. I discovered if I simply press any hotbutton key the E would come on and I would let it auto off after one minute so I am back in business HOORAY

Tapping the on-screen Reset button doesn't work sometimes. Try the reset button in the back of the handheld--that should work.

I've been the proud owner of a Tungsten E for 10 days. Went through a lot of trouble to get it (friends from abroad, since it's not available in my country - in the end it got ordered on amazon).
After the 4th hotsync (just some word docs and 3 rm files) it gave me a fatal reset error and I can't get it to start up again. Or shut down for that matter. Doing a reset from the back of the palm gives me a bright screen with the palm logo that won't go away no matter what.
What do I do? The battery is full. Do I wait for it to empty? and then what? Please help, I'm kinda desperate here. Sending it back to amazon is a huuuuuuge pain and probably not worth the cost of the transport. Thanks.

The T|E is shipped with Documents to Go v6.000. This version is known to crash. Download 6.008 at Dataviz.com. You will need to have your registration code handy.

Tricia,
Try a "warm reset". Hold on the up button (5 way) while resetting the back using the stylus. When you reach the prefs screen, release on the up button.
This bypasses all system extensions, infrared, etc. From here, try to perform a normal soft reset. If this doesn't work, repeat the warm reset and try deleting trouble some applications. Worst case, perform a hard reset and be extremely selective about what you install.
