I've just noticed that my UX50 has started turning itself on - and STAYING ON - even when there's no alarm set. Has anyone else noticed this? If so, has anyone found a way of preventing it? Shouldn't it always turn off automatically after 2 minutes? (which is what I have specified in General Prefs).

I've read the other thread on a similar topic (UX50 turning on every morning), but my problem occurs at any time of day. For example, it turned itself on while I was sat next to it at 10:30 this morning (it was also turned on when I picked it up this morning).

I do have SnapperMail installed, and PalmInternals shows the 3am alarm for this. I've used the "BUG" facility, but can't see an option which will disable the 3am job. The only other alarm shown by PalmInternals is "Actnames" (22/7/05 at 16:43:45).

Even if Snappermail or an alarm gets triggered, the UX50 should turn itself off again after 2 minutes, right??

I'd be really grateful if anyone could shed any light on this.

I had the similar problem long ago, and also did a search and found out that certain apps woke up the UX, like Verichat.
To be honest with you, I didn't find out what was causing that in my UX, but I hard-reseted and reinstalled everything and the problem got solved. Hope I helped you ;)

Thanks for the reply. I don't have Verichat installed, but the strange thing is that there's no program open when it turns on - just the (ZLauncher) menu. It's also puzzling that it stays on, even though it's idle. This does of course explain the frequent occasions when I've needed to hard reset due to a completely drained battery.

A hint: do you have 'Stay on in cradle' checked? Do you have extended battery?
I don't know why but I've read that these to issues are also related. Good luck.

I have "stay on in cradle" UNchecked, and don't have an extended battery. The bluetooth light is also off.

I noticed taht my ux50 turns on and off quickly ( like a flash ) randomly . I saw this from the corner of my eye one time and noticed it a few times after that. Not sure how often it does it during the day but it's not normal.

Any ideas, should I hard reset it ? I have verichat , snapper and an eb40.

Thx

@itm

I had exactly the same problem, I was almost sure that Verichat caused that but... when I uninstalled it this was happening all the time. It was so annoying. Later I accused EB40 battery but without it same problem existed.

Once my UX did hard reset by itself - no idea how but it did and I lost all data, hopefully I hotsync often, aster this unexpected hard reset problem was solved.

Cheers,
Sebastian.

Check the cliemail settings, in your pref you might have it so it checks your email on a daily time basis.

You may also want to check the Bluetooth settings in preferences. There is an option for Allow Wakeup. Perhaps someone or something is scanning around or trying to communicate with your UX50.
