My T5 is going to be replaced under warranty. I want to reinstall the apps individually, but will be using the same hotsync ID. I plan on installing the T5 update before I do anything else. I already saved the internal (160 mb) to my computer. How can I install the apps 1 at a time, and then install all of the pims back to normal?
Thanks in advance,
Louis :)

AMEN, Louis!!!

Ehm, if you want to install the apps without the procedure of the whole hotsync progress you should use Pinstall... get it here http://pdassi.de/product.php?prod_id=204

and you should save the folder with your datebook and adress-data

Do you have a T5 Special Edition? My INTERNAL has "only" 160MB not 160 GB??? :D

I hope this is what you wanted to know...!?

david

Ooops on th e 160 gb- I already fixed it. I thought I needed to rename a folder, or something like that. So that the files don't automatically hotsync to the new T5. The new one will have the same hotsync ID, my computer won't know it's new; my computer will think it was hard reset, or something.
Thanks again,
Louis :)

Make a copy of your palmOne/username/backup folder somewhere on your desktop's hard drive and then delete the contents of the original folder. Your PIM data is not stored in there, so when you run your first hotsync, it will be restored, but any third party apps will not.

You probably will also want to set any third party conduits to "do nothing." Right-click the hotsync icon in your system tray and choose "custom."

Then you can go back (into the copy of your backup folder you just made or into the original download files) and double-click on your third party apps to reinstall them one-by-one.

NOTE: you will have to re-enter all your passwords and reconfigure all your preferences. I did this when I updated my T5 and it didn't take me TOO long.

What Mike says above is teh best method. PInstall also works (sometimes for me anyways).

Love the name Louis.

Thanks Mike and Antoine. I knew it was something like that, but I couldn't remember how to do it. I renamed the backup file and will reinstall individually. I'm confident this will work great. Thanks to all for the compliments!

Louis,
Just wanted to say : that I too am encouraged to see your fine choice of a 'user name' and keep shouting out that He is - plaudits indeed !

Oh - hope the new set up goes well on that new T5 too :)

PInstall also works (sometimes for me anyways).

I used to use PInstall with my M515 but can't seem to get it to work with the T5. Doesn't recognize the hotsync at all. I am running version 4.9.

Antoine, what do you mean by "sometimes for me anyways". Do you have the same problem using this program with the T5?

As a helpful hint, I have been using PalmOne File Transfer to load any new applications onto the T5's internal memory and then I use FileZ to copy it over to the main memory. Works pretty good but I sure miss the efficiency of PInstall.
