Did anyone manage to get the versamail to work with the dpad of T/T5? There does not seem to be anyother way of scrolling down except with the sylus. Thanks

Gary.

Gary.

Dpad scrolling works fine on my T5 with Versamail, both scrolling email headers in inbox & email body. Also switching to next email with "side" press of dpad.

Cheers,
Tim

Maybe I should just try a reinstall!
Wait a minute, it comes preinstalled. Does that mean I need a hard reset? Oh no. Forget it.

Is there anyway of installing it without a hard reset?????

I was looking around Palm for some other stuff, but while I was there found this on the Palm Help Forums (http://forums.palmone.com/pe/action/forums/displaypost?postID=20164409&returnExpertiseCode=)

Hope it helps.

Cheers,
Tim

Well, I manage to reinstall the versamail as per instruction. HOwever, I still cannot make the program work with the dpad for scrolling down. Sigh. Anyone has any other suggestion?

I've had the same, or a similar problem. Essentially, I can only do about half the things I ought to be able to do with the Dpad.

I have found a partial help (not really a solution), which seems to allow use of the Dpad in a few more situations. Make sure that in the preferences you are not viewing / downloading HTML messages (Options > Preferences menu, General tab, Receive format: select Plain Text).

Forgive me for not providing a real solution, but perhaps a description of my Dpad Versamail issues will be helpful to someone or elicit another response.

There seem to be two broad areas of dysfunctionality.
(1) I find the Dpad almost completely gives up on HTML (within Versamail), and only moving to a next (Dpad right) or previous (Dpad left) email is still possible. What is more unnerving is that once I've viewed an HTML (or some other emails, not sure what makes them different from normal plain text emails), then the Versamail continues to allow only next/previous actions with the Dpad for all other emails. To correct this, I have to return to the email list (eg. Inbox) either by pressing left on the Dpad until it returns there or by using the stylus.

(2) Unfortunately, the Dpad only works for some of the functionality elsewhere (as you describe, I believe), even in text-only emails. So, in the email (eg. Inbox) list, I can: page scroll, select an email, push Dpad right to get a list of options for an email (eg. delete) and select an option
When viewing an email, I can: sometimes page up and down to read it, and move one email forward or one email back (eg. for reading)
When viewing an email, I *cannot ever* select any of the buttons, for example, to select Done, Reply, Fwd or Delete.

NB: Comments here refer to Versamail v2.7.1, used on a T5 (with or without the firmware update). Comments also only refer to Versamail used with a BT/GPRS phone to retrieve emails directly, in other words, without syncing with any desktop email client.

I am glad in a way I am not the only person with this problem. If only Palm allows us to upgrade to the higher versions. Can someone recommend another e-mail program that can be used with the dpad?

I changed my default e-mail program to outlook express instead of microsoft outlook and I now have no problems using the dpad with versamail. I also had problems syncing some mail with ms outlook. They do not download properly into the T5. Especially e-mails from yahoo. These sync with no problems if done from outlook express.

Zenlon - excellent description of the problem! All I could say was that for unknown reasons, the D-pad wouldn't scroll within a message. I never discovered that the "trigger" was HTML-formatted messages.

This is a bug in my book...

BTW, my version 2.6.1 lets me scroll even in HTML mails.
