Just wondering if the popular arcade emulation software works on this thing...

I just installed the new PalmMame from http://www.pocketdimension.com/PalmMAME.html two days ago, loaded in all my old roms(have to be from MAME 0.36). Most of the games work, though they have issues with multi pressing of the buttons. You can try dmitri's LifeKeys for that. It has reset a few times, but if the game you are loading does work, it works very nice. Even better than the emulator on my desktop.

Thanks for the reply! I just picked up my LD tonight so I'll report back on my MAME experience when I get it running...

Ok, I've installed MAME and the 10 modules that came in the zip and so far I've tried 8 or 9 games and either they don't work (the screen flashes and it goes back to MAME) or the LD just crashes.

What do I need to do?

Sorry for the late reply, was on vacation :) The modules just contain the support for the games. You have to actually install the roms to either the SD card or the HDD in a folder named, Palm/Programs/PalmMame/roms. Put the zipped roms in this folder, go into PalmMame, and in the menu, find Update Available Roms. Any roms you have installed will show up in blue. Unfortunately, the filter for the list does not seem to work, so you have to scroll through the whole list to find the games you have installed. It is still in a very new state, so hopefully it will improve. The same website with the download also has some helpful forums, and the author of the software is very good at answering questions. Good Luck!

That's awesome they came out with PalmMAME. I wonder if they have Jungle Hunt for it.

I have the same problem, did the same thing (uninstalled lifekeys and mame is back to normal)

Any news about this problem, or a solution yet?

Help will be appreciated :(

PD I have nesem trial and it supports multikey pressing... Just wanted you to know.

Have you installed the LD firmware update that adds multibuttonpress support?

Em is right, the new update takes care of the button press issue, though it has caused a few other issues with Palm/MAME. I finally uninstalled it for Little John Palm becuase most of the games I like are also on Nintendo, which LJP is great for emulation. I will keep my eye on PalmMAME though, hoping it becomes more stable as time goes on.

ShadoPanther, what issues has 2.0 caused with MAME and Palm that has caused you to delete the application? I'm also an LD gamer who has yet to upgrade to 2.0. I'm almost satisfied with NesEm (with its own multiple button-push fix) and CaSTaway, with its on-screen auto-fire function. Have you used either NesEm or CaSTaway after 2.0? What are the general gaming problems with 2.0? Thanks.

After 2.0, PalmMame can't seem to get past the loading of the modules for me. It causes a reset everytime I try to enter it, with an error message on different modules each time. Before 2.0 I never had this problem. I have tried Nesem and liked it, but since I don't have the extra cash, I went with the freeware LJP. It works really well, even after the 2.0 update.

I use PalmMame with an updated LD. No probs. Just wish the LD had more RAM so I could run Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. ;)

It just doesn't run on my LD , every time I try it begins the loading of the parts and crashes, i get an out of memory error, i installed the dmytri's soft, can anyone tell me the UMDH config? how much Free ram is needed for the games?

PD: i tried 6Mb and 10 Mb roms
