I have been replying to posts and asking lots of questions on the NZ since folks here started getting it.

I am now proud to announce that my wife and I are happy owners of NZ90's! And we did use the product replacement plan at CompUSA with *no problems whatsoever!!!*. It would have been cheaper if the NX model weren't still out... since I had to use the plan to turn our NR's into NX's (only for about a minute or so) then upgrade to the NZ's.

If CompUSA only carried the NZ right now, I would have saved $400. But as it stands we paid ~$300 each for our NZ's.... so basically I gave my NR and $300 and got an NZ. That includes my new product replacement plan on the NZ.

So in 6 months (might be sooner) when Sony releases the sequel to the NZ, all I have to do is go into CompUSA... use my replacement plan and turn my NZ into the next toy. Sweet. :)

I'd like more information about the CompUSA replacement plans, especially about the upgrading to a newer pda,how does it work, and how much does it cost? i'm planning on buying nz90, and idea to get it's sequel when it comes out easily and cheaper sounds great

I had the same speedy upgrade at BBuy going from my NX to the NZ but They put me through the ringer going from the NR to the NX... and the NR had issues... What did I learn: they will do the deal much easier if you say nothing is wrong... so they can sell it again...

Roni -

I had my NR70V (actually all this is times 2 since the wife and I have the same PDA) that I bought at Circuit City back in August along with the receipt (this is important).

I took both to CompUSA and purchased a 1 year product replacement plan (can't remember if that's the exact name for it). Now this plan *STARTS* at the date of purchase... so for me it was only maybe 7 months into the plan. Just to clarify again... the plan you buy at CompUSA ... whether 1 or 2 year starts at the date of purchase. So for me the coverage went back to August 2002 and started there. But it was still within the year plan so it was cool.

So now I paid $69.99 (I think that was it.. whatever the cost for a 1 year plan on a PDA that cost $600.00) for the plan. You have to wait 30 days before you make use of it... so I waited.

Then this past Saturday I went into the store, and used the plan (as in it's now no more) and my NR70V (and you really should have every piece that you got when you bought it... box, manuals and all. they didn't ask me specifically for this but I had it anyway just incase. so if you don't have all that stuff you'll have to inquire) to upgrade to the next highest model (since they don't carry the NR anymore... ) which at the store is the NX70

***But*** since what I really wanted is the NR90, I just paid the difference between their NX and their NR... which was $200.00.

The trade in and trade up all happened at the same time.... and within a half an hour. I then again purchased the 1 year product replacement plan on the new NZ90 (another $69.00) and for ~$300 dollars and my NR70V I have a brand new NZ90 with a 1 year replacement plan.

When Sony comes out with their next model within the next year (and we all know it will be sooner than that) I'll just use the plan to trade up. I'll then purchase the 1 year plan on that new model and I'll then be paying only $69.00 for the newest toy.

As I said before... sweet. :)

oK, above are the links for the plan and the details on the CompUSA plan. in my opion its the best plan out there , but it IS not Cheap.
I Did buy the NZ90 ( I love it) and I also got the Compusa Plan. I could have bought my NZ for a lot less money ( about $675.00 was the lowest Online price I found at the time) But I got my NZ90 from CompUSA and there Plan for 2 years.

My logic in my decision was> I pay a bunch of money now, but in the long run I come out ahead. With the plan I figured I got TWO PDA's for the price of one. When my NZ90 gets too OLD ( I plan to hold out for OS6 or OS7) I will Upgrade for very little cost.

The plan basicaly gives you in store credit for 2 years> so at any time you can exchange your NZ90 for something else> and get credit towards your new item. For example, Sony comes out with a NZ100 Clie with built in TV! and its selling for $1000.00. I take my NZ90 into CompUSA> They give me $800.00 towards my NEW Nz100> So in the End I pay $200.00 + exchange my Old NZ90 for a brand New NZ100.

OK I did read it all... But I do not see a specific part mentioning "replacement" of outdated PDA's (smile) maybe I am missing something, but it seems to me that it plainly offeres to replace a dead PDA, (Repair or Replace at the vendors choice.)

What part am I missing...? (Page what in the PDF)

rgs3229 - there was nothing wrong with my NR70V. before I did this I talked with the manager to be sure I was understanding things correctly.

Bo_ and the rest - I actually never read the plan or saw it. a stupid thing on my part but I took the word of the manager there and some other employees who have the plan and use it for the same thing.

If nobody can find this plan (in the context of how I used it) documented anywhere... I'd say just go to your local CompUSA and ask them about it. Say you've talked to somebody online who's done it (at the Newport News, VA on Jefferson Ave). That's what I did at first.

I should go in and get some documentation... and I most likely will so I've got my butt covered. But the bottom line is this plan got me an NZ90 for the cheapest way I know of. And I don't have a NR70V sitting at home not being used.

I didn't want to believe it untill I spoke to somebody at the store... and that sold me. :)
