any issues to anticipate? non-compatible software? very different to use?

Do not install using a backup hotsync! Do everything fresh, be sure to do the update first, and everything should be good. The screen is a lot nicer, and it's thinner than your Tungsten T. Glad you decided to upgrade! :)

what do you mean by a 'backup hotsync'? sorry to be so basic...i've had my t/t for so long i haven't had to deal with any of this.

also, what about this 'patch' or update i hear about. do i need to install that first? my biggest thing is that i rely heavily on datebk5.

thanks for any input.

The 1.1 update can be found here! http://www.palmone.com/us/support/downloads/tungstent5/tungstent5update.html follow the directions on the site. When I said backup hotsync, I mean don't hotsync using the same name as your old palm, wehre those files will transfer over, because it will only cause problme.s Install everything fresh and you should be good :)

Or in your Palm folder folder (under the user directory), rename the backup folder.

eg. C:\Palm\User\Backup

Or what I did was export all my PIM info from within Palm Desktop, uninstall all my Palm programs that have desktop components/conduits (after making backups, exports, etc. of the data as applicable), uninstall Palm Desktop, rename the directory (eg Palm.old), install the Palm Desktop that came with the T5, and re-install everything from scratch, importing/restoring data from the backup files I created as needed.

Basically, what you don't want to have happen is a restoration job happening the first time you sync the T5 (which it will do using the files in the Backup directory (or from whichever BackupBuddy directory, if you use that) when you sync a "clean/new/freshly-hard-reset device to an existing username). A clean install was what got me a mostly stable T5. I did keep the same username as before so I wouldn't have to re-register most of my programs.

The 1.1 patch mentioned above is HIGHLY recommended.
