Anyone have any thoughts as to the best music download service for an IPod. I've used ITunes up until now and it's very good, but it doesn't always have hard to find items. I've seen advertisements for different download services, but I'm not sure if they are legal and I don't want to get burned with spyware. I ran across this site the other day while on MSN, so it makes me think these services are legit.

Anyone with any thoughts or experiences? Specifically, I'm looking at the IMusic service.

That doesnt look legal to me. Legal songs are almost always DRM protected, and the largest services dont have libraries that go past a few million.

The legal services are pretty much anything listed in Windows Media Player. On the right where the butterfly icon is, there is a pulldown list of legal music services, none of which are free. To my knowledge, iTunes is the only service that works on the iPod. Real tried once, but Apple purposely locks them out of being able to make their tracks work with iPods. I will never get an iPod, simply because it is so limiting in your music download ability. If you get a player which confirms to Microsofts DRM system, you have at least 4 different music stores you can use. Not only that, but since Microsoft licenses their system, new stores can open which conform to it, unlike with Apples method.

Correction, there are 9 music download services listed in WMP that can be used with WM10 compatable devices. Napster also allows unlimited downloads with their subcription service (you have to continue the service to keep the songs), and there are some players that work with this feature. Not listed is Real Rhapsody, which has the same capabilities of Napster.

Take a look at players that can handle these files here (http://www.playsforsure.com/Default.aspx).
