There's a Brand new VZ90 on ebay (item#5786588696) going for $405 as of this writing. I believe that's a smoking hot deal for anyone looking for this model. I am interested in it but I couldn't find any accessories for it at all, so I'm a little hesitant in bidding. For those of you who own this model, is it hard to find parts and accessories?

I was gonna get it but decided its not worth it. My UX50 has opened new doors for me. Bluetooth is one of them.

Hmm. I don't buy items that aren't Buy It Now. Anyway, this is probably go up to about $650 by the time it's won. That's still pretty good though.

What about the issue with the accessories and such?

And, btw. it was originally listed with a buy it now price of $500USD, up until someone placed the first bid. So, if it goes up to $650 that would suck!

The only accessories I use are my memory stick and the damn charger, lol.

man if that dude was located in canada i woudl definitely bid!

The first and last bidder is located in Canada. Whoever it is, they must be kicking themselves in the arse! He chose not to buy it now at $500 when it was available and ended up paying $165 more. Not to mention the duties he'll be paying on that.

Nice to see a fellow canuck won it, If he ever decides to sell, it'll be a good deal for us! :D

LOL,

I call it really dumb. :)
I was one who bid up at $650... so I guess he outbid me and paying $165 more. LOL
Also, I bid on $650 since I saw that VZ90 was selling at 69,800Yen for spanking brand new unit anyway. (It's almost at $700)

But... shhh..... he might be a member in this forum too. :D

I saw the listing by chance just an hour or so after it was originally posted. It had no bids with $400 opening and it showed the $500 BIN. So I sat there thinking how much my wife would kick my butt if I spent money on that just to resell it (keeping it would be a wonderful dream, but I don't have $$ for another. . .)

Anyway, as I sat there just about ready to BIN for $500, tankdrivingmutt put in the initial $400 bid and wiped out the BIN price. . .DAMN! I was THAT close! Oh well, I don't have to fight with my wife. :D

Why would a bid lower than the BIN wipe out the BIN?? What the hell! I plan on selling my TH55 as soon as possible.. I don't want that to happen to my auction! I love Buy It Now! I don't use anything else when buying!

Well, anyway that we all know that he had his lesson on Ebay 101 from this auction, right?
If the price is good do the Buy It Now.
Even I'm pleased with my UX50, it was tempting so I bid on $650. That's it. (It would be challenging to use japanese pda and it will need a time to get used to it.)
I wouldn't buy it more than it gets sold in Japan. If I really really need one, I will try to find a local (Japan) contact, so I can have one at cheaper price. Also, I know some guy bought VZ90 with 2 dead pixel at under $600. So I can wait for the challenge.... when the price comes down more. :)

But for now, I don't want to get kicked out from my wife. hehe
I got my UX50 and NZ90 w/ 3 extra batteries are coming any day now. So .... I guess I have to decide what I will use most between them.

Two situations:

1. You have starting price and BIN option W/O reserve price. The BIN option is only available if there are no bids. As soon as the first bid is placed, the BIN option disappears.

2. You have starting price and BIN option WITH a reserve price (somewhere in the middle.) The BIN option will remain until the bidding reaches the reserve price, at which point it will disappear.

The thing with a reserve price is that it adds to the listing fee charged by eBay, so what people often do is start out the bidding at their reserve price to avoid paying the additional fee. The drawback is that you don't get the bidders as excited and drawn into your auction, but you know you'll get your minimum asking price. Think of how many more people would have bid on that vz90 had he started the price at $1.00?

BTW, he just joined 1src and still got a great deal on a new Sony handheld.

We should all say hello. And many of us are jealous as hell! Let us know how it goes when you get your new handheld.

It would make sense to start an auction at $1 or whatever, but that's still scary as hell lol. Reserve price or no reserve price...... OI!

Although, you could pay for a reserve price AND get people excited about your auction by starting it at $1. Hmm. I'd try to do something tonight, but ever since I changed my name last year my PayPal has been retarded. They get on my nerves. I DON'T HAVE A FAX MACHINE.

<sigh> ok, maybe that's not quite how i feel, but as i browsed through this thread about the vz90, i started to feel about an inch tall. for those that commented along the lines of me kicking myself, etc., y'all are absolutely right. if not for someone on this board who pointed me in this direction, i'd never have thought that the vz90 had this much attention outside east asia.

i was going to tell the seller to hold on the the vz90 for a couple days seeing as how i am going to visit a friend in california on the 13th and for the seller to send it there instead. alas, she treated it like a hot potato and got it off her hands asap. good seller under normal circumstances. guess i shoulda thought things through, eh? guess i shoulda held off on the payment until i figured out a way to get it asap without extra pay in taxes. she said she sent it as a low value gift to help me avoid the taxes, but we'll see. what's done is done.

as for now, i wait patiently for IT. translation for the device itself would be nice, seeing as how i grew up speaking english. however, having had my nz90 for about a year AND having learned japanese when i was a kid, the language isn't gonna be an issue. <GRIN>

Welcome to the forums! :)

It's still a good deal!

And I was the one saying you're probably kicking yourself in the arse... I know was..

I think I was probably the 3rd person to see the auction and had asked the seller a question but didn't get a reply until the next day. So I held out on the buy it now button. I'm a moron for not hitting that button when I had the chance! Heck, I probably could of posted it for sale here if I didn't want :D *sigh*

Anyway, when you decide to part with it.. it will probably fetch a good price (seeing as how most UX50's average $200-$350 on ebay, nowadays).

Let us know when you get it.

C'mon....

Evevrybody on this forum would love to have VZ at good price. (Like $500 BIN.)
hmm,,,
My good price would be under $600 because of following reasons.
1. Japanese Palm OS
2. VZ90's price has dropped in Japan. (From $890 to $690)
- Well, of course the price would be much higher if you want to get one. (shipping & tax, etc.)
3. Sony is sutting down on their Clie products.

I even tried to find who manufactures the OLED screen for VZ. Guess what? ST LCD (Sony-Toshiba) makes the OLED display, so it will be really hard to get the display alone.

However I still admit that VZ90 is a tempting device.

tankdrivingmutt,

I got mine too. (Guess what? She had another unit and she offered me if I would be interested. So I said yes but I asked her some discount since it's outside of Ebay - no ebay fees etc. Then she offered the unit at $100 less. )

:D
