Original T/T - the slider stopped working

i've had my t/t since the beginning and love it. suddenly, when i pull down the slider, i get a flash like it's turning on and then it doesn't. i have to turn it on by the on/off button or the apps buttons. also, it doesn't hotsync unless i hold it firmly down in the cradle.

any ideas?
