I went to do a hotsync today, just like every otherday. I was only adding one new PRC file.

It died during the hotsync, and started going through continual reboots. Over 60 of them in 15 minutes.

Well I did a hard reset. Then did a hot sync. Hotsync completed, but again the LD started going through continual reboots.

Also the only way to turn it off is to do a hard reset and NOT hotsync.

What do I do to stop this. ANYYYYYYY help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
carltonb

After 1 hour of being off it clicked on telling me to install software on my pc, what gives.

That always happenned to me. Everything would be going well, until I would add just one application, and then it would crash! Then I did a hard reset, then a Hotsync, making sure to erase the last prc file that I added in the backup folder, but it would still go through soft reset loops. It was just unusable.

Then started a game of figuring out which application, sorry, which COMBINATION of applications would make the unit crash. This lasted eight days, until I add this brilliant idea!

I just got a refund for the LifeDrive, then went to buy a VGA Pocket PC! Buggy, yet much more stable than the LD. I am very satisfied with making the switch, since a PPC fills my needs so much better. Clear Type fonts on a VGA screen are a Godsend. If anything I would like to thank Palm for producing a unstable unit like the LD.

I seriously hope you can make your unit work, unlike me. I would have kept the LD if I had been able to make it work, because I liked the so called zen of Palm. Well, I realized that in order to enjoy the LD, you must keep things VERY simple! No Handyshopper, no Mapopolis, be careful with Repligo, etc... If you just use the built-in applications and like to listen to MP3s and watch some videos, you will enjoy the LD. I have more demanding needs, so I had to switch side, even though I didn't want to support MS's monopoly. Heck, one must choose his battles in life!

Good luck making it work! But don't lt this drive suck up your life like it did to me. Some guy at my store told me that the LD would soon be taken out of the market, and replaced by one with a bigger hard drive and less bugs. Maybe you can wait for that. Anyway, here's hoping you will be able to figure things out.

You backed up the bug during your last HotSync. Remove the Safe and Unsaved Preference file including the last application you tried to install from your Backup Folder and resync after a Hard Reset with PC overwrite Handheld. Good luck.

TK- Although I admit initially I had problems with the LD, now I have it up and running and it works great! I don't understand why you had to switch to a PPC. I am a power user and I don't just use the built in apps. Most of the problems will be fixed by updated software. Many of the problems I had when I first got it have been fixed already. A lil patience...

I definitely envy you. I was never able to get it working. Of course, I can't even get ActiveSync installed on my omputer no, so the score is 0-0 now.

Having a fully functionnal LD with all my 3rd party apps installed would be a Godsend. I MIGHT give it another shot if I can't make the PPC work. But I am just scared of losing another week on it.

My Palm was like a swiss army knife for me. It is really about having all my life in my pocket. I have invested a lot of time making this system work. It's too bad the LD was always crashing. Patience might be a virtue, but I must have a fully functionning unit by the end of the month. I don't know which one it will be now.

Oh, and the screen quality of the LD was perhaps the last blow. It was way too dark, and seriously lacking green! The screen on my Zire 71 was so nice, so it was painful going to the LD. The Ipaq hx4700's screen, on the other hand, is pure heaven. It's too bad the MSMob OS is so unfriendly.

Well, I might very well be running a Palm on an Ipaq pretty soon!

Still, I would be interested in knowing which apps you have installed on your LD.

Enjoy your fully functionnal LD! I wish I were in your position...
