Hello.
Is there a vesion of Vexed compiled with support for HiRes ?
The site says that there is "preliminary support" for HiRes in the latest beta, but can't find nowhere the prc compatible with it.
(Plus, the project seems dead... How sad !)
Thank you.

Well... Either no one knows, or nobody is interested...
At least I can repair the link (I hope), in case someone willing to continue development sees this post : Vexed (http://vexed.sourceforge.net)

Vexed is one of those games that plays well without the need for hi-res and fancy graphics. The gameplay is solid and fun.
Personally, I really don't see much reason to make it hi-res.

You're totally right. That was not the point of my post anyway. Vexed is fun and addictive and doesn't *need* fancy graphics and eye-candy (although I think it would benefit from a 480x320 screen, with the "Remaining blocks" displayed under the play field, or stuff like that...)
My point is : just out of curiosity, I was wondering if there ever existed a build with HiRes graphics because they are already included in the CVS...

Point taken Alan
I doubt further development has occurred given the updates and date/timestamps shows that little has happened since 2003.

AFAIK, they still need to fix the bug with trying to move a block next to a wall into a wall being counted as a move. Else, with all the level packs and current level of stability, we still have ourselves a winner.
Having a T3, I would rejoice at having a remaining blocks display or a quick way to switch block designs. If just hi-res, they could support hi-res block designs. This unfort. is not too cost effective for a freeware game, so we may not see it.... unless ppl could submit their own designs.

This bug is fixed in v2.1b1
From the ChangeLog : "# Fixed drag errors, where invalid dragging could increment the score"
If you want to take a look at the HiRes block designs already included in the CVS, you can either download the source and look in the "games\hires" directory or go straight to SourceForge and browse the CVS repository (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/vexed/vexed/game/hires)
I wonder how much work it would require to complete HiRes support in the source...

Hi,
I feel that this game will not benefit from HiRies at all-it already benefits from it as the lines, etc are smoother. A game that mainly draws vertical and horizontal lines and squares, does not benefit from a HiRes implementation usually(unless you need the extra screen space).
Only if round, diagonal... graphics are drawn, you really benefit IMHO!

o_O
Do you really feel those two look the same ?

hi-res looks smooth. I gotta say i would like hi-res, but I'd understand if it weren't supported. Your low-res link isn't working

I helped with the graphics for the color versions of Vexed, including the Hi-Res version that was in development before it stopped. If you'd like to use the version that was in progress you're welcome to download it here:
Hi-Res Vexed (http://mc.clintock.com/first_floor/study_1/desk/palm/ICON-images/Vexed-HiRes.prc.zip)
Just install this app, and use the level files from the regular game. It ran fine on my Tungsten E and my Tungsten X, but it comes with no guarantee!
The graphics aren't all that great, really, and could have used a lot more polishing, but it's pretty smooth -- the jewel graphics were fun to work on. And if someone with Palm development experience decided to finish it up I'd be delighted to finish the graphics :)

Wow!!!!! Thanks mmcclintock This looks awesome. Everything seems to run fine on my T3. I truely didn't think Hires would add to this game, but I have to say this propels Vexed to the top of all Freeware games. Thanks for making this available. Now off to replay all those levels :)

This HiRes version doesn't run on my T625C (at all : it switches directly to the Prefs app), but it looks very good and works very well on my TH-55 :-)
Thanks for making it available !

Does your NX70V run PalmOS 4.x ?

Nope, it runs PalmOS5 but I can be older API than normal POS5 devices - for example to have sound in many apps I have to use Cliepet's MCA2.
Clie always will be Clie ;)
