View Full Version : Keyboard shortcuts to menu items--Dumb ?

I may be dumb, but I can't fathom out how to access command options (such as copy, paste) from the keyboard of the Treo 650--other than by highlighting and selecting. Surely it is possible to use a Command+C, for instance, to initiate copy? I've searched the rather poor manual and can find nothing on this subject.

Hi Scuwif,

You'll need Butler to help you on that, and many other little things that the Treo should do right out of the box. Give it a try in demo mode, you'll love it, and then you can buy it.

Many thanks, Streamhawk. I will try this now. At least your reply shows me that I haven't missed anything--it just doesn't do it, and it makes simple editing tasks a chore on the standard 650.

No need for butler

Just push Menu key. Menu+X = cut, Menu+C = copy, Menu+P = Paste.

While we are at it Menu+U = undo, etc. Just look at the shortcut key next to the menu item. Once you know the key just use Menu+key, the menu does not need to actually have time to display for this to work...

Is there a way to highlight a sentence or a word to copy or paste it from the keyboard, or you need to pull the stylus for that? Would be nice if you can do that since there is a way to actually give the command of copy etc from the keyboard.

If you want to select words, sentences etc. Search for something called FieldPlus on Palmgear. Does exactly that!

just got a Treo650 and have been browsing the forums to find a solution to cut copy and paste functions. The menu + C, + X, P work fine IF the app has those items on the menu, but if it doesn't am I screwed. I can't bring myself to belive there is no way to copy and paste without installing some add-in app. Hopefully someone can prove me wrong. If not is there a very light-weight small foot print app for this?

What application are you using that does not have the copy/paste thing in it?

The FieldPlus application I mentioned above allows cut/paste even if there is no shortcut menu items.
