No Hotsync

I can't get my unit to Hotsync. I have an NR-70; computer runs XP Pro. Never had any porblems with Hotsync until a couple of days ago. Then, no Hotsync. Makes like it is doing it on the NR-70, but nothing comes up on the Windows screen, and after awhile it gives a message that it cannot connect to the computer. There is not record of a hotysync in the log. And, to top things off, I am also getting intermittant crashes when I hit the button on the cradle.

I've reinstalled the Palm Desktop (4.1) software. I've reinstalled Intellisync software. I've connected and reconnected the USB cable. The Device Manager lists Sony Handheld under USB devices. I've hard reset; I've even opened the unit and disconnected the battery. Still no hotsync?

Any ideas or suggestions?
