Is there a setting which will inhibit the clie B4 the battery dies so that I don't lose all non-default applications?

You're Clie must have battery power to keep from losing data. Your files & 3rd party applications will be lost is your battery dies. Even if you're not using the PDA, it will still consume some power. The best bet is to do frequent backups to your computer or to a memory stick (I like to do both). Then you'd only lose data since your last backup.

For backup software, I suggest Adv.Backup.

Set the auto backup time and you don't have to worry.
