Problem with Palm software installation on PC

I just bought a 2nd hand Tungsten E and am running Win98SE comp. When I go to using the install CD when it gets to changing registry settings I am getting a bluescreen error as follows:

A Fatal Exception OE Has Occurred At 0028:CO2BB4B8 In Vxd IFSMGR(04) + 00012 BBC. The Current Application will be terminated.

Then I have to when asked to press any key to continue, then the Palm Desktop Installer pops up and says:

App1=Configuring the installed components.This will take several minutes to complete.

BUT at that point the installer just hangs without doing anything, does anyone know the fix for this please.

Joe,

Make sure that you've applied all of the latest updates for Win 98SE to your computer. If you are planning on using Microsoft Outlook as your default PIM (instead of Palm Desktop) make sure that you've applied all of the latest Office updates to your computer. Lastly, you might want to try copying the install CD to your hard disk drive and running the Palm Desktop install off of your hard drive.
