Check out this possible new ad for the Nintendo Revolution. Looks like we'll be seeing the Revolution sooner than previously thought.

Interesting.
Very interesting.
In the article, they talked about dev kits being deployed, and I remember reading in IGN that some of the larger game companies in Japan had received the Dev kits for the Rev. (At least I thought it was Revolution!)

I'm hoping Nintendo will pull a Sony, and offer a Revolution Developer kit for less then $5k.

Last I read, Sony was only charging $3k for its PS2 SDK. The PS1 SDK cost $18k when I worked for Interplay.
And just to ramble a bit like usual;
Not sure about the GamCube's SDK? The N64's was a wopping $500k for its SDK. The discouraging Nintendo monkeys at E3 stated it would cost a minimum of $20k to develop a GBA game, and that's only if I had produced a previous commercial title on another system they they deemed worthy of their greatness. Oh, and they let me know it's hard work; Duh! They currenty seem to have the same all mighty attitude as Apple had in the nineties towards their developers, so I hope this has changed with the Revolution, and they'll make it affordable for small business peeps like me to venture into.
Anyways, I've lost touch with most of the peeps I knew in the game industry, so I'm not really sure about costs now days. :o

So JackAxe, did anyone actually buy the N64 SDK? That is excessively expensive for something like that. I'll bet only the major companies bought them, probably cheaper to reverse engineer.

Anyone else who made an N64 game that wasnt the big N bought them from the sound of it, past developer or not... (Rare, Capcom, LucasArts, those larger companies, I am guessing.)

Jeeze, Jack, you had always seemed to love Nintendo... After reading this, it seems you are kind of mad at them... Well, the gaming/technology industry is all love/hate anyway... =P

I loooove Nintendo. I was just griping out loud. :) Anyways, they're saying the Revolution will be easy to develop on, so hopefully that applies to being able to get me grimy lil paws on its SDK.
Interplay bought a N64 SDK. But for that price, Nintendo killed all possibilities of small shop development. One of the reasons it ws sooo expensive, is that the development platform was an SGI.
