Looking for a word processor which has both Windows & Palm versions.
Documents to Go cannot import password protected files, so I have to open the file with Word , remove the password, then add it again. Quite tedeous.
That's why I am looking for a processor that "understands" the password in both versions.
Infoselect has word processing function, both Palm & Win versions. But we cannot try.
Any suggestion?

The Professional version of Documents to Go, which comes with most current Palm OS Devices, does not support password-protected files. However, I understand, that the Premium version of Document to Go does. (Comparison Chart (http://www.dataviz.com/products/documentstogo/index_palm.html), Key Features (http://www.dataviz.com/products/documentstogo/premium/dxtg_features.html), Upgrade (http://www.dataviz.com/purchase/upgrade/documentstogo/index.html)).

I've dealt with them in the past without any troubles.

Hey Daver,
I've been using the demo edition of MobiSystems Docs and it KILLS DTG. I use EndNote extensively and MS Docs is the only word processing system out there that can open files which use EndNote correctly (i.e. without crashing). You can password protect files with MS Docs, it has a built in spellcheck that works pretty quickly, etc., etc., etc. Try it out. The competition is not even close.

Oops, I meant to address my reply to Brjlk, but "hi" to Daver anyway.

LOL, and "hi" to you too Kyle!
You're right in that MobiSystems has more features for some people, but if you just need standard word processing without all the bells and whistles, DTG is perfect for you.

This is a version history for all versions of DTG Premium edition. Standard and Pro editions do *NOT* support password protected files.

This indicates DTG premium 6.004 or later supports the passwords feature. U'll need to upgrade to premium edition and to version 6.004 or later to get that. If u decide to try out a later version, test to see if DTG on handheld can indeed recognize those password protected files. Even tho dataviz is big on compatibility, at least make sure it works seamlessly.
These are links to info on other Office suites or just single apps. Use them primarily to know what's also out there, as the versions that are reviewed (DTG 5.x and DTG 6.x respectively for these links when DTG 7.x is available) are sorely outdated. A good way to get up to date info is to visit the dev's homesite and to check out what new features their updated software includes, then try reading reviews on ESD sites like palmgear.

Hi ackmondual and others,
Thanks for your reply.
DTG Premium looks interesting: Password protection, landscape orientation and importing/exporting data to expansion card.
However I'll try MobiSystems Docs before making a choice.
But does any of the Palm wordprocessors read native Open Office files, not Open Office files saved as Word format?

I don't know of any that read OO.o files. I'm pretty sure MobiSystems Docs can handle .rtf files. That may be as close as you'll get. Good luck.

Good Evening-
Not sure if it supports your needs but have you investigated WordSmith? I use it daily and have for over three years. Quite capable.

A. Mobi-Systems Docs is the best word processor available for Palm OS.
B. No Palm OS word processor natively opens and saves RTF files.
