No Driver DataImport Patch for UX!!

Hey all, a guest by the name salkdjfgaslkdj posted tips on how to make your UX driverless on XP machines, without the use of CardExportII and it works. Here is a direct quote.

Here is the solution for TH/UX (and probably VZ) with Windows XP:
0) _Backup_ your CLIE.
1) Copy ScsiLibrary.prc onto your PC with FileZ or another file manager.
2) In hex editor, find little-endian halfword 0x0145 (for memory stick slot) and 0x0146 (for UX internal storage). Little-endian means you need to look for sequence of bytes 0x45, 0x01. Change these halfwords to 0x002c (i.e. to sequence of bytes 0x2c, 0x00).
3) Increase database version in the ScsiLibrary.prc header. E.g. with "par" tool command line looks like this: "par u -v 10 ScsiLibrary.prc".
4) Copy updated ScsiLibrary.prc back on the handheld with FileZ and _not_ a HotSync.
5) Reset the handheld.

Now any Windows XP will see the CLIE as "Sony USB Floppy".

I took the liberty to create this file to make it easier for you guys. I wish this guest were registered. I would have liked to thank him or her.

Is this only for the "data import" function, or will this help XP "see" a UX50?

I have had problems with a UX50 and WinXP under VirtualPC on a Mac, as have "real" XP users. I know it's not the VirtualPC part having the connection problem, as my wife's Palm synchs flawlessly to VPC/XP.

I think this complies to the Data Import app only. Might not. Not sure. You should copy your wife's device backup unto your device and see if it works. Then modify your device to your liking.

OMG! I got fatalerror, "SystemMsr.c, Line:5842, SysLinkerStub(): Failed to load the shared library." when I click on the memorystick icon on the statusbar.

what to do now?

I deleleted the scsilibrary.prc from my handled. now whenever I run dataimport and click on "connect", it returns an error where stated "Missing Library, This application does not run because the neccessary library is missing or the system does not support a Sony SCSI mode" :( SOS!

Wow! Something MIRACLE happen! I didn't backup my data using the power saving backup for bout a month already... just now I put up my mind to do a hard reset, and when the clie initiate, it asked me whether want to restore back.. and it written today's date and 45minutes ago!(2.02pm) what the heck!!?? I was still in my way back to my home that time.

I trying to flashback, today I went to my school only realised there are no battery power on my ux. and only I knew I keep the wifi on in the midnight and I didn't charge it in the cradle. I can't even switch on my ux due to the low battery!(not even with backlight switched off! heck, this is totally batteryless). and how could the UX auto backup for me!? and how it knew I'm going to facing a trouble in the next 15min? What sort of luck I'm having!!!! :) :P

I copied this file from my MS into ram & got an error as well. When I tried 2 remove it, it stated it was in ROM. Also, I had an app named OffIt that was assigned with combo Ctrl+1 2 do a soft reset so I wouldnt have 2 use the stylus that doesnt work anymore. :confused: When I attempt 2 restore 2 the backup that I created b4 I installed the scsilibrary.prc file, but it doesnt help!! :mad:

Does anyone know of another app that works similar 2 Offit that can soft rest just by selecting the apps icon??

What app did u use 2 delete it?? I tried FileZ,FileProg, Resco Explorer & McFile & none of them would allow me 2. :eek:

Every since I tried installing scsilibrary.prc, I cant do a soft reset from a soft reset app!! I've tried OffIt, mReset, & soft reset. Whenever I launch the app, the backlight goes off & doesnt reset my UX. Can somebody assist me with this??

I can't really understand ur problem. btw, are you trying to delete the ROM's scsilibrary.prc? double check it and make sure you are trying to delete the scsilibrary.prc that you created in ur RAM

I have the 50/U. I honestly dont know what was going on with my UX 4 the last couple of months.

#1 my UX stopped doing a soft reset from the app "paper clip" that I had set in Ctrl+1 after I added the ScsiLibrary file. I have no idea why it did that.

#2 Card Export stopped working out of no where as well. When I would click connect, it would prompt that something with the usb driver failed.

Now, I havent added a new app on my UX in @ least 2 months b/c I have it doing everything that I need it 2 do.

# 3 I had 20 Avx files loaded that I couldnt delete from when I checked out mp4 files.

So, with these issues I went ahead & did a hard reset & added all my apps manually. It only took 1.5 hrs. It took more time 2 program over 30 Keyquick settings that I have. Im glad I did this b/c I went from 7mb of free ram 2 9mb & I added all the same apps. :D

knotnututhis, goto Softick to get the newest version of Card Export II. It fixes the stability issues with the UX. Trust me, its WAYYYYYYYY better :)

JAmerican, Do I need to do a hard reset here or can I do a soft reset. It keeps telling me there is an error transferring the file. I go in and it is a ROM file and says I can't delete it.

My issue is I had to reinstall data export onto my work PC. It is telling me that the install was successful but then says installing scsi driver and it says it fails.

I can't gain access to my files on my clie at all. It says it is connected when I go into data import and click connect but I can't see anything.

Let me know your thoughts.

I do have two SCSI library's. One in ROM and the other in RAM (The one I just put in there) When I click to connect via Data import I am receiving the error of:

So do I just need to delete the one I just put on there?Just don't understand from what was said on this thread that I need to do to correct? I have XP professional on my computer.

this driver works great. i dont get how you have all these errors.
installation is very simple: copy it to you ms from your pc (dont sync), move it with filez from ms to ram, soft reset and thats it.

to mount it, just click the ms icon on the status bar, choose your device and click "pc link".
it would connect to the pc as a sony ms device which doesnt need any driver in 2000/xp.

What?? You could use DataImport for Int. Media now you can only for MS? That makes no sense. I can use for both with the hack. Did you hotsync it?? Don't hotsync hacks, usually not a good idea (if you did).
