I got fed up with waiting for my lexar rebate... it's been over 8 weeks, and nothing.

I just went to the site, and did live support, and asked... nobody replied, but 5 minutes later, I got an email reciept that it is in "final stages".

Odd eh?

Seems to me like if you don't follow up with them, it's in the trash.

So if your like me and still waiting... head on over and start hassling them to be true.

You're paranoid.

Check http://www.rebateshq.com and track your rebate.

I did go there... Wasn't listing anything.

After 8 weeks, should at least be in the system.

you should also try wheresmyrebate.com. It listed two rebates that I had outsatnding as well as whether they were accepted and the anticipated mailing date. Many vendors participate with them.

I try hard to not buy things with rebates, but mainly because I always forget to send them. Which is really the point of rebates anyway.

8 weeks, thats all.:) Keep waiting. Sent mine out near the end of December (had to be postmarked before 12/31) and they said it was recieved on 2/4. (Real slow Post Office or something:rolleyes: ). Then it was "processing" up until about last week. Now it is supposedly been sent out about 6 days ago. I have yet to get it though. (If it takes as long for me to get it in the mail as they said it took them, I guess I have to expect to wait 3 or 4 more weeks).

You seem to be taking the images thing rather hard, nice picture though.

I'm still waiting. It sure looks like Lexar doesn't want to give those rebates.

LOL! Of course Lexar doesn't want to pay these out! That is profit out of their pocket, and the whole reason you do a rebate in the first place. most people forget to send them in, a lot of people send them in wrong, and you can 'float' the money for a long time before finally paying it out.

8 weeks, nowadays, is nothing in the rebate world.

If anyone wants to put together a petition to outlaw rebates totally, I'd sign it in a second!

I got mine Saturday (from a Dec purchase) BUT it's a postcard/check. I could have easily missed it.

Or I wonder if ANYONE would have noticed what it was, would I have received mine... ok so that is illegal but... nonetheless what an nondescript looking check.

I did one last fall, and it took longer than 8 weeks I think.

Put me on that petition too. If our elected "representatives" had a hair on their a** these damn things would have been outlawed right out of the box.

I've done several with Lexar and SanDisk and eventually received all. That said, I'd rather take the savings up front.

I just wanted to mention that today I did finally recieve my check-on-a-postcard. Only took 14 weeks.

I don't think it's coincidence that the email arrived exactly when I contacted them....

I think they delay some of them (if not all) until the customer follows up... and hopes some don't bother.

the only rebates I haven't recieved were the ones I mailed in and forgot to check on. Which incedentally a lexar rebate was one.

conversely, the only rebates I have recieved (besides one from Dell) were ones that I checked on personally (phone call- not web site) And usually I get it within a week of contacting someone.

EVERY rebate I do now: 1) Scan a copy of everything. 2) Place a reminder in my PDA for 8 weeks 3) at 8 weeks I call them 4) Check arrives usually within another week.

My MS lexar check took 14 weeks, including a phone call which said it was processing and finally an email after 12 weeks. I just got it three days ago.

My opinion, is that they bank on two things: 1) you'll forget to mail it in 2)you'll forget to check on it.

On the other hand, I have received every rebate I have mailed in, or received a reason it was denied- even the dread Lexar/CompUSA rebates- and I rarely check or follow up on them.

I think follow-ups are a good idea, but since I would bet anything that the customer service departments are almost totally seperate from the rebate fulfillment departments, I am not sure how much affect that really has.

After all, the rebate companies process hundreds, if not thousands of rebates a day. If they build in some sort of feedback loop ('don't complete processing until called'), it would just add steps and manpower that would make the process more expensive- and cheap processing is definately the name of the game!

Even the banks they use are chosen because it costs them less. Cecil Adams has an interesting story about this in one of the Straight Dope books, and probably discusses it on his website www.thestraightdope.com (I think).

I sent the $15 and $20 dollar rebates yesterday, in seperate envelopes. I'm not expecting to get both, but by the rules, it looks like I should. I guess I'll know more in 8 weeks or so. Honestly, this is the first time that I ever sent in a rebate because I always forget.

If it all works out, my 128 card should come down to a final price of about $7!!! Seems way to good to be true, but I thought the original price from Amazon was pretty good and wasn't banking on the rebates anyway.

I bought 2 Lexar memory sticks with a $10 rebate. They refused the rebate because, "The UPC code submitted does not match UPC codes valid for that rebate program."

The funny thing is, when I purchased them, the cash register printed out the rebate coupons, so the UPC had to be correct, otherwise they wouldn't have printed out. This is a LEXAR RIP-OFF to get people to purchase their stuff then not honor the rebate. Don't buy them!
