On my NR-70, the alarm sounds get cut off. It will play the first 1/2 second or so and stop.

I am using Datebk5, but I never had similar problems on other Palm devices.

Any clues would be appreciated!

If you have installed the Sony update patch for the NR series this will happen.
You have to use a file manager and delete the file called something like "hold extn" and everything will be fine.
Let us know.

Yeah, just search clie source for hold extn and you'll get to it.

I had the same problem after installing the update patch. I had to do a hard reset, get rid of the hold extn file from my backup on my computer, and then re-sync. It's worked fine ever since (except the time I had the hold button on :) ).

I have the same problem but I find this FEATURE very useful...
The alarm cut-off only happens when the clie is closed (screen is facing the keyboard). When in open position and when the screen is facing me the alarm works fine. Very useful for shushing the alarm during meetings :-)

Thanks all for the input!

Is there a file manager that can actually delete "hold extn"? I tried Z'catalog and the Sony one, but neither can delete the file. I can try doing a hard reset and resyncing without it, but I'd like to leave that as a last resort.

Thanks!

Do a warm reset, hold up and press the reset pin. The screen will be in 320x320 mode, hi-res assist will turn off, and the screne will not flip itself, but u should bea ble to delete hold extn

I haven't tried the warm-reset method someone had listed, instead trying FileZ (which I normally use to delete these types of files) and found that I get a delete error. No major problem, just doesn't delete. Anyone use another file manager that *did* delete hold extn? Or perhaps someone that has a suggestion of why the normally reliable FileZ had a problem w/ this one?

Kev!
