SanDisk has announced it will be producing its own Memory Stick Pro media in 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB capacities.

Memory Stick PRO cards initially will feature capacities up to one gigabyte (GB). They will be identified by a unique metallic gold color but are otherwise identical in physical size and shape to the current generation of purple Memory Stick cards

Memory Stick PRO cards feature advanced capabilities that will, when combined with devices that are optimized for the Memory Stick PRO format, ensure greater reliability by preventing data loss due to sudden power loss or accidental removal of media while recording or transferring files. Memory Stick PRO media can be safely removed during a file transfer process without the risk of damaging the file structure on the media.

For security, consumers can protect their personal data on the Memory Stick PRO cards with a file protection mechanism that prevents unauthorized access to the files in the event the card is lost or stolen. For commercial content providers, the new format includes the MagicGate™ copyright technology, which provides secure protection of commercial and copyrighted content, such as digital music and, in the future, video and games.

The SanDisk Memory Stick PRO cards will be available in 256 megabytes (MB), 512MB and 1 gigabyte (GB) capacities. They are expected to be available in April at many of the 50,000 retail stores world wide where SanDisk-branded products are sold at prices ranging from $189 to $879"

If I got any of those, they would be carried in a tiny locked metal box hand-cuffed to my wrist.

I don't think loosing your new ms will be a problem, since you'll only need one! PalmOS has always been a very compact OS with very compact programs and with new compressions for audio (ATRAC3) and video (MPEG4) you won't need much space for multimedia data as well. See it this way: 1024MB: That's more then 15 hours of video or almost 40 hours of high quality music. That's enough for me!

not me. I NEED MORE. I would carry so many movies and programs around. I would love it. And mp3's, I wouldn't have enough space for them all.
