On page 160 of the LifeDrive Getting Started Guide it states that "Your device comes with a dummy card inserted into the expansion slot ...".
My didn't come with the dummy card. Did anyone get a dummy card with theirs? It would be nice to have a dummy card in there to keep dust, etc. out of the slot.
Does anywhere sell dummy SD cards? (Maybe I should just put a real one in there).

None come with mine. All my other older Palm's do come with one dummy card.
Just stick a real card in there. But Lifedrive's slot seems tighter than previous Palm, and the card when inserted is flat, unlike previous devices where one edge seems to be protruding... I really like the small touch (the tiny SD logo on the slot's side).

No dummy here. Get an SD anyway, just to back up your most important stuff.

This is one thing I always hated about SD slots - Why don't they have covers??
Every single Clie I've owned had a 3.5" floppy-style door (Well, except the TH55, but that has an actual click-lock door!), but every Palm I've seen just has a big gaping hole unless you stick a card into it.
Now, granted, with Palms most people will have a memory card in it, but every SD device I've seen with an unenclosed SD slot - Cameras, camcorders, music players etc. have unshielded hols! Why is that?!?!

Don't know, probably because they're cheapskates. But AFAIK this is the first palm that does not come with a dummy card.

Maybe you can sue PalmOne for not giving you a dummy card.

I noticed that the Treo 650s at work come with one ... and they're more in need of having a real one fill the slot.

Maybe whom ever was suppose to stick the dummy SD card in the slot was out sick that day. Mine didn't come with one but I just kept the one that came with my TC.

Some poor palmOne factory worker just got fired because he forgot to insert the dummy SD cards.
"Now, what are we going to do with a twenty boxes of 250,000 dummy SD cards, now that the LifeDrives shipped?"

If you guys decide not to do a class action then Google says
http://www.gethightech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?&Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PA1104&Category_Code=SD
$1 for a new one -- not sure what delivery charges are!

Y'know, I'd be more inclined to make one out of cardboard myself, rather than pay $1 plus whatever exorbitant amount of shipping they'd charge for such a waste of plastic...

Heh, I have a 512 in there just to back up certain files and media... Its cheap and adds more space if you arent into backing up a Hard Drive (Doesnt that sound stupid?)

Has anyone else noticed if you keep a SD card inserted all the time that there is a noticeible lag time when moving around and opening applications? I didn't realize how much of a lag time there was until I took it out. Without the SD card inserted there is hardly any lag time.

Well... if you get a piece of plastic that has exactly the same shape as an SD card, but without the switch or metal contacts or anything else, that's what it looks like.
