View Full Version : Pocket-Tunes LD song list problem.

I need Pocket-Tunes help. I used to open PT on my LifeDrive and I would see a list of songs. I have shuffle selected and would then hit play to play my 20 or so songs in random order. This evening when I started PT, the song list was gone. By selecting the music note button, I can see the song list, but as soon as I select a song and hit play, I get a soft reset.
If I select Open from the menu, I get a dialog box that says "Searching for music". That box never closes. If I hit cancel, I still have a blank list. After selecting LifeDrive from the upper right hand pull-down, I get the list, but it then acts just as it did when I hit the musical note button.
Songs play OK through the console (I think that is what they call it) when selecting them from the Files application.
What is happening and what can I do to get the full version of PT up and running again? I am assuming that some index file is corrupt, but I am not sure where to look.
Many, many thanks for the help.

I think I have narrowed this down to a corrupt PT playlist file. When I start Filez I get a message about the program not being able to open a "PocketTunesPLTNpt Def PL005" file (as well as an apparent Avantgo file called "AGPreference").
I can't delete the corrupt playlist file with Filez. Does anyone have any other ideas about how to delete (or uncorrupt) this file -- short of you know what, of course.
Thanks,
christopher

I was just about to post something similar.
Last night, while selecting "select all" in the PT song list, my LD reset. I spent a bit of the evening and this morning trying to narrow down the problem. I kept getting a gibberish file that would change its name after every reset, but I couldn't find it with Filez or Files. I figured it was an mp3 that had been corrupted somehow, so I just went through and deleted the music folder by folder. I think I narrowed it down to one of two folders causing the problem. I wiped all the music and PT is behaving itself now. Now I'm loading all the music back on to see what will happen.
The crashes have been annoying, but I've gotta say that between the LifeDrive Manager and Drive Mode, it's been a breeze to troubleshoot things.

I just reloaded the music, and PT is working fine. It doesn't seem like it was a problem with either the LD or PT. Looks like a file just got screwed up somewhere. Hope it works for you too.

I was finally able to delete the corrupted files using FileProg, but Pocket-Tunes still cannot find my music. When I select the Open button (or file command), I get a window titled "Please Wait" with the comment "Searching for music" inside the window. I let it run all night, but it was still stuck on that window this morning.
I then installed the download version of Pocket-Tunes and that had the same problem. This leads me to think that there is some problem with a LD index file and not necessarily a PT file. I have contacted NormSoft, but haven't heard from them yet.
Any ideas about how to reset Pocket-Tunes?
Thanks,
christopher

Hmm... When my PT looks for songs, it takes at most about ten seconds, and often as little as one, and that's searching nearly 4 gigs worth of songs. Something ain't right. I'm using PT Deluxe, but I don't know if that makes a difference.
NormSoft has been really good about getting back to me on customer service issues. Let them know what you've got because they're going to have a new LifeDrive-optimized version 3.1 coming out in a couple weeks.
