I was just wondering when Sony is starting to produce these? and if they have gotten to the manufactures since today is the deadline according to Ed's article.

If they do have it, I would I know if they have it or not?

Is the info to the processor included on the box?

Thanks

Are you asking when will it be?

Whatever comes with it now, I don't expect any upgrades. Now if you want to upgrade, wait for a newer model to come out.

I don't have the NZ90 so I was just wondering if I should wait for it and then buy it?

and

How can you tell if one has the PXA255 and one with the old PXA250?

Thanks

You would have to go to Sony web site for that info, if it's available.

I seriously doubt that Sony would change a processor chip midstream in an existing model.

but reading from the article here (http://www.brighthand.com/article/Intel_Officially_Announces_PXA255_XScale_Processor)

it states that Intel will stop producing the PXA250 and the cost of the PXA255 and the PXA250 are the same!

Maybe sony has enough of the other chip to last them until they introduce a new model. I don't know this, I'm just guessing.

It's more than a chip change, the surrounding buss will also need to be changed.

Hmm I see!

But if they discontinue the chip and Sony runs out!
What are they going to do?

They are forced to change right?

No, you can use the new chip in the existing 100 bus architecture like Dell is doing with Axims. So you will have a new chip but none of the benefits. Well, actually it uses less voltage, so maybe your battery life might be better. I know Toshiba's e750 used the new 200 mhz bus speeds and some people seem to think it is doing better with the battery. I do not know if that will also be the case with using the new chip in the old system. Anyone care to take a gander?

That's the whole point, why wait then to purchase an NZ90?

I would guess there's some back inventory on the old chip. I would further guess that the next chip will be intro'ed in a new model. The NZ100 or such. Saving my pennies for the next upgrade....

Yeah!!!

Well maybe... it would have to have more than 11mb of available RAM :).

isn't there a guy out there that retrofits more memory to palm devices?

Yes, but they have not announced any upgrades for the NZ, NZ or TG at this point.
