Hot sync button does not work!!

For the past year I have been able to hot sync with ease. For some strange reason, I can no longer hotsync as of tonight!! I have uinstalled and reinstalled Palm Desktop 4.1. MS Import works fine, but when I push the hotsync button or try to synk via the hotsync icon, nothing happens. What's going on. Do the cradles just die after a certain amount of time? Anyone else ever have this problem? Any help would be appreciated. THANKS.

On mine, if the first doesn't work I have to try again up to 3 time.

Did you install any softare on your desktop lately?

I have not installed any new software. This is driving me crazy. I may just go to Best Buy and Buy a new cradle and see what happens.

Have you tried going to the Hotsync software and starting a Hotsync from there?

Sometimes the contacts could be bad. I just disconnected the USB plug from PC and Clie serial plug from the cradle, cleaned the pins, reconnected the Clie serial plug back to the cradle and USB back to PC. It worked again, no problem. This happened 2-3 times in the last 18 months I use the same cradle.

Yes, I strongly suspect rusting on the contact causse the problem

Well I just bought a new hotsync cable and it still will not sync. I performed a hard reset and it still will not sync. Do you think it might be a clie hardware problem. I do not want to reimage my hard drive only to find that my clie is somehow broken. Yikes!
