Hello,
I have been going away for about 2 years now
I purchased a x30h for its wireless capabilities that until now Palm has not thought were needed to be built-into a PDA.
Anyway I was wondering if I dive in and get a new PalmOne unit (like a LD) how do I move my calender / contacts, etc. back to my Palm unit / Palm Desktop?
I was thinking that it would probably be a good idea to first move them to my T3 and get used to the different OS again.
there are differences and my thought is that a few are so minor that it will take a bit of a learning curve to get used to P1 OS again.
I own switch-sync T3, but don't think I can move from Outlook / x30h to a T3 / Palm Desktop.
I think it only goes T3 to x30h.
Anyone input would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
JW

You know, with the LD (and any palmOS device) you can sync to outlook, thereby keeping you info just as it is. And then after syncing to OL, you would reinstall the palm desktop program and choose to sync to palm desktop instead of OL.

So I un-install Palm Desktop 4.1.4, and install?
I presently have Palm Desktop running for my old info. (not the hotsync manager, it is set for maunual) and Outlook 2003 (activesync) running for my x30h unit.
I never ran my T3 with outlook.
Is there something additional I would need to sync the T3?
Thanks

If you want all your info from your x30 onto your T|3, the easiest way is to reinstall palm desktop from the t3 cd and click, sync with outlook. It would work well that way

I have Palm desktop installed do my system.
I just don't know where to find the option to sync with Outlook.
I have looked at sync options but it is not there.
Please advise
Thank you

n0m0n;
When you do the install procedure, there is an option to either sync with Outlook or with Palm Desktop. unfortunately, that is the only place where you can set that function. So to change from syncing to/from palm dekstop, you wuold just have to run the installation program again.

IIRC, there's a program on the T3 CD called Outlookswitcher.exe (or something like that) which will change the conduits from Palm Desktop to Outlook. No re-installation needed.

ok I have downloaded the Palm Desktop file from Palms website.
Do you know if when executing the file if it to gives one the option?
I only ask because I have 4.1.4 installed and I think the disc's version is 4.0.
Also would it work if I take my SD card over form my x30h and insert it into my T3 copy the calender files over and try to install them into the T3.
It was a thought since I am able to beam over individual appointments / contacts one by one.
It would take way to long to try to move all my calender info that way, but it was a thought...
Thanks

Yes, the versoin that you download from palmOne.com gives u the option of using Palm Desktop or OL. Using the version on palmOne's site will work just fine.
Copying the data using an SD card will not work because even though the info is the same, the format is not.

Ok, the T3 won't sync because I now have learned that Palm will not sync with Outlook 2003.
Of course I have Outlook 2003, is there a work around?

uhmm. Now that part I do not know as I did not know that you had OL2003. I would try a company like Chapura and see if Pocket Mirror's free version would work for you.

There does not seem a way for me to migrate the data back from Outlook 2003 back to a older version.
This is beginning to become to difficult.
Should be a easy way to do this.

Both myself and my wife sync to Outlook 2003 with no issues, aside from a bizarre error that stating that the conduits could not attach to the folder. Starting outlook from the command line with a Outlook /resetfolders clears that up.
FWIW, She uses a T3, and I use a T5.

Not sure what to do.
I looked at Chapura but they don't have anything that I saw to go from Outlook to Palm.
Only the other way from what I saw.
Thanks

If I recall correctly, there was an update on the Palm website to sync with OL2003. Ah yes - check out this (http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,case=obj(25026)) However, again, if I recall, there was a further update to the Outlook conduit that was a part of the 4.1.4 desktop. So now that you are syncing with OL (since you ran the Outlookswitcher program), try updating the conduit via installation of the 4.1.4 Palm Desktop (yes, I know you're using OL - the conduit comes with the desktop, no way to get it separately)
