I just received my Treo 650 from Verizon.

I am having a hard time determining what the Side Button does. THis is the button just below the volume keys on the left side.

Any ideas?

Mike

Sure, according to P1, this is a "customizable button". There is probably something in the prefs to set its functions. I dont have a Treo, so I cant say more.

You can set this any way you want.

"The button" sets (locks) the ringer and ear speaker volume. Without locking either, they revert to the previous setting.

If that is what you set it for. Maybe it is the default setting but you can change it.

I have my button set to my Todo list, that way I can pull it up on the fly ... You just set it up in prefs and when you hold the button down it will complete the assigned function. It also works in Real Player by default, it will pause your music.

Can you set that button to lock your PDA?

It does not appear so by default, however I suspect it is just a matter of time before all the goodie software will come out for this device. We should have it soon I hope.
