I could not find an answer to my question on the forums here, so I hope I could get an answer with this new thread.

Is there a desktop software to enter data into handyshopper, because if there isn't i think i just might buy Splash Wallet suite. Is splash wallet worth it?

I think there is/used to be one, but not made by the same developer. I seem to remember reading that somewhere. Double check the documentation and/or the website.

[edit]
from the ReadMe FAQs:
Is there a desktop version of HandyShopper?
- One user has written a desktop companion called Desktop Shopper,
for HandyShopper 1.7 and also for HandyShopper 2.x. The desktop
companion can be downloaded from www.palmgear.com (search for
"HandyShopper").
- Another user has written an Excel spreadsheet called HS2Edit,
that can edit HandyShopper 2.x databases. This too can be
downloaded from www.palmgear.com.
- Another user has written a Windows program called RatShopper that
can edit HandyShopper 2.x databases. This too can be downloaded
from www.palmgear.com.

There is no hot-syncing "desktop" to HandyShopper. There are, however, several alternatives that use the HS data files. You can get more information and downloads at the Yahoo HS forum:

I bought SplashID separately a while ago before there was a SplashWallet and I'm pleased with it. Try the demo (of the whole suite) and see what you think.

I bought Splashwallet before it included SplashShopper. I use Splash ID all the time. SplashPhoto has a great desktop component for formating images, including jpeg images, for the Clie screen and they work perfectly with ZLauncher as backimages. I do like AcidImage better, though, as a image viewer on the handheld. I have never gotten around to using Splash Money. Because I am a very happy HandyShopper user (I really don't find any need for a desktop component), I've never even demoed SplashShopper.

I use the HS2Edit.xls spreadsheet application, which works very well. There is a yahoo group for this as well.

In a word-- yes. I purchased the suite and use all but splashmoney. Since I could purchase the suite at less cost than the individual programs, I went for it.  The only reason I don't use splashmoney is because I have Ultrasoft Money which syncs seamlessly with my MS Money.

I use splashshopper to create lists which coordinate wonderfully with the desktop app that accompanies it. You can create/add/edit whether you want to do it via the desktop app or on your handheld.  Same holds true for Splash ID.

Was a toss-up between acidimage and Splashphoto, but the desktop app on the Splashphoto is very nice and simplifies resizing your pics (among other things.)

Anyway, hope this was helpful. Regards...

Are you all saying that the HandyShopper forum has databases that we can share for our grocery shopping? I would love to exchange mine for someone else's. If anyone is worried, HandyShopper is freeware and the databases our own collection of data that we enter, so no copyright law is broken or infringed upon by my request... I am definitely within the realm of the law. Thanks for your help.

Just go to their yahoo groups site and browse through the files section. Alot of goodies hiding in there. And you can upload any databases that you have that you believe may benefit others.

There is a freeware PC program called "HandyEditor".

The developer has stopped developing any new versions (since he no longer has the time), but the last version seems to work fine for me.

It opens the HandyShopper file in .../[your hotsync user name]/Backup and then if you make any changes, it can then sync the resulting database file.

I use it to cut-and-paste items from somewhere else on PC to HandyShopper, instead of having to manually enter the information on my Clie. However, frankly I don't have to do that too often, since usually I am just entering stuff like "gallon of milk" :-) - which I can do on my Clie even when I am sitting at my PC...

The HS2Edit spread sheet is still the best and easiest to use. There is a forum for this also:
