I'm two weeks into a NZ90 and have the same battery issues cited elsewhere on this forum. The question I haven't found answered (and maybe I just didn't look hard enough) is whether anyone has a sense of whether the problem is with the batteries or the actual device. Could I exchange the battery and solve my problem, or is it the device itself that is the issue? I would imagine if it was a software/OS problem, everyone would have uniform problems who run on the same software build.

I called Sony, and they were very pleasant but feigned complete ignorance of the issue. Odd considering how many people describe the same problem. Before I run back to Circuit City to exchange or return, I wanted to see if I had to play the percentages and hope I get a good one this time, or if there is something more definitive I can do to be satisfied short of returning it and waiting.

Generally pleased with the toy otherwise, and get great "oohs" and "aahs" in meetings. Wish I could take a picture of their reactions, but the camera app won't start up...

Thanks for any info/insults/insights you can offer.

I got the same surprised response from Sony when I reported battery issues. I pointed out the hundreds of posts on Cliesource and the support guy was amazed that many people were having problems. My theory is that people are returning them to where they purchased without contacting Sony support. If that's true, I could possibly see how their support staff might not be aware of the problem.

I ran into a fellow Clie source poster at Best Buy when I returned my last unit and he said the battery is not strong enough to support the digital camera. I think he said that the Palm Tungsten has a better battery than the NZ90, so it sounds like a battery issue to me. Unfortunately, I don't really know if replacing the battery would do any good.
