I haven't heard anything as of yet.

I see PALM will be producing a, I think it is called this, Tungsten C with OS5.2 and 32mb internal ram. They are coming out soon with this Tungsten C and a new Zire

Reading some from PalmInfoCenter it shows a Zire71 which will have 320x320 pixels 16mb RAM and a camera (640x480), a 5way nav button (like tungsten has) and run about $249-299.

Tungsten C..... resemble formfactor of the Tungsten W (which I think is flat ugly). Built in WiFi.... PalmOS 5.2, and a 400mhz processor. It says it will have at least 32mb of RAM and will retail around $499. Goes on to say they believe it will have the 320x320 screen found on the T & W Models.

Getting back to your question..... I would think it would be 'wise' for Sony, if they want to continue their lines, to at least MATCH what Palm does, and do MORE ... in order to retain their market share in the PDA world.

I didn't realize, till I read a few articles yesterday... that Palm Powered Handheld devices accounted for 71% of all PDAs shipped in the 2nd half of 2002. Nice number... I don't know what it was before that, nor how strong the PPC world is coming about in taking more marketshare .... but 71% of all PDAs being shipped with PALMOS ... is great IMHO.

Anyway... enough rambling... I get enough of that with my other posts.... LOL

still 320x320? What a waste? I think palm path is 320x320 all the way with graffiti while Sony may go to the path that keybd to replace without graffiti (TG50)

If it will come, it will be a hardware and software upgrade because NZ90 include only 16 MB RAM on-board. We'll have to send back our NZ90 to Sony for upgrade.

I'm not sure Sony will release an upgrade for NZ90. I think they will release a new NZ91 ( = NZ90 with 32 MB and Palm OS 5.2)

I seriously doubt there will be an upgrade. It will be in the form of new models.

LOL... Yeah, I am mentally getting ready for a $800 upgrade with hopefully give me better battery life, manual features in the camera, and MORE RAM... (I would spend the money in a second if it also had MicroDrive support)

I would have to think for a looooonnng time before giving up the current clie for a new NZ90 ver2.

I mean how much would you be able to sell the old clie for ? What are you going to do with it ?

Its like a car, the minute you get it out of the store (drive out of a lot ) it almost looses half its value...

32mb of internal ram would be tempting on a new Sony (probably 27available).... long as I can upgrade the ROM from 5.0 to 5.2 .... would be good 'nuff for me ... long as everything works fine with it. I don't think I'd go and trade in my NZ for anything though .... I want everything that it comes with .... built in WiFi would be a nice addition, I must say. If they were to add WiFi ..... I might really consider upgrading the NZ.

Having gone from a Dragonball 33mhz to a 200mhz .... that is GREAT processing power. I don't know, based on current usage/apps that I would really need a 400mhz at the present time. Maybe down the road but.... I'll definately stick with my NZ for awhile!!!!

I THINK THEY WILL TAKE OUT THE WIFI CF SLOT SO AS TO REDUCE SIZE WHICH THEY HAD DESIGNED THE MS WIFI.

Forget the MS WiFi, the NZ90 is a top of the line product, how about if they removed the CF slot, build WiFi into the Unit and left us with a nice PRO compattible MS slot and more internal ram.

I could live with that.

I would love to have the WiFi built in as well. It already looks duable. I think the main reason why they did not include it in the first place was to keep costs down not because of space limits.

If you take the current CF WiFI card and "glue it" to the back of the clie it doesn't change the shape/space that much.


Anyway, I believe (I don't like it but that's what I believe)
that sony will NOT be providing hardware upgrades for our NZ90s they almost never did so in the past, they would rather release a new and improved product.

What I do hope for is that they will release a new and improved battery, something that all of us can easily upgrade to.

It have been possible to upgrade earlier versions, though only within the limits of the degree the hardware actually can support the new OS.

Besides, it si starting to become clear to me why these things are soo blasted expensive, they REALLY are pretty close to my laptop, delivering a color touch screen, a pocket size OS and a whole lot of other little goodies.

Forget more RAM ... concentrate on providing a more robust battery. With the 16meg of RAM I have and JackFlash I have plenty of RAM ... but god could I use a decent battery! Do it, Sony ... PLEASE!!!!!
