Well, neither the Mozilla back arrow --or-- the mouse back click work when I am inside the 1SCR site. This is a new problem within the last week or so.
I seem to have to re-click Forums to back out while moving around.
I am not having this problem on other sites.......
Am I alone ??????

Will,
I noticed this too starting -- I think -- yesterday. I have Mozilla Firefox 1.0.3.

Nope, your not alone, sadly I wish you were :p. Hehe, yeah, back button doesn't work, loading a page takes a while and there is lil lag when you scroll. I have to use the MobilePage because it was getting annoying.

I don't mean to minimize your frustration, but when you use non-standard apps you have to expect problems. Joel and Reggie work hard to accomodate everyone, but its very difficult to anticipate how every third-party app will react to a site. It certainly isn't a site owner's problem to solve issues in third-party software. The best solution is to complain to the developer, or have a copy of IE handy for those sites that work best with it.

I've just had to switch from FireFox two days ago because I could no longer write replies for some reason. This morning I also got a warning that a script in use on 1src was causing a major slowdown and had to be deactivated. And no, I don't use any wild extensions.

The major factor that is contribuiting to this is kontera.com, whatever they are. While waiting for the page to load I saw that address down in the loading status bar. Before when it was running smooth, I didn't see that before.

I started noticing strange things happening in the last couple of days to. It seems to be whenever kontera.com is spinning away and never finishes whatever it is trying to do.

Mozilla browsers are far from a non-standard app. My guess is that, as 1src users are more technical, at least 25% of their page visitors are using a Gecko browser. The problem is not Firefox. Try using Firefox in other vBulletin sites or on their own forums themselves. Unfortunately I fight this idea every day, that it only needs to work in IE (it usually bascially comes down to laziness). Taking that approach has an direct effect on the bottom line of a business. It is never good to drive away potential customers. It is easy to tell how Mozilla browsers or Opera will react create web appliations that use standards. If you write the components in a standard way, instead of using properiaty techniques and hacks, their should be no problems with any browsers.

This is the think that causes me the most pain when surfing the web;
HTML is supposed to be a standard - The ideal vision for it is that all browsers should render a page the same.
Of course, this hasn't happened - A great deal of this is because IE does things a bit off-kilter, but as it is the current dominating browser everyone caters to it.
That said, Mozzy is making inroads so I expect allowances will be made for that too.
I will also take this opportunity to smugly say that Opera has given me no trouble :p

I've been having the same sort of problems (can't use back arrow, etc.) for the last few days.
I also have noticed there is a new kind of IntelliText Ads embedded in people's posts that up until now, my Adblock extension had taken care of. Could this be causing the bizzare (and FRUSTRATING!!) problems??
*EDIT* I have now Adblocked every instance of kontera.com I could find...and now back button works like before. But...I still have problems I didn't have before. For example, when I hit "Go Advanced" reply button, and I try and highlight a section of text, then change it to bold type for example, I can no longer do it.

I haven't noticed the back button problem but that highlighted text stuff is back. I *really* hate that.

Well, my FireFox loads my CPU to 100% while working on multiple 1src pages. Too much Javascript or so!

Weird. I'm on Firefox 1.0.4 and haven't seen any of these issues, even before upgrading to the latest. I simply refuse to use IE whenever possible.
My CPU doesn't max out either, unless it's such an intensive page. But then it maxes out my bandwidth well before my CPU in any case.
/shrug/
As for the idea that it's Firefox's fault. /ahem/ I would disagree. What I'm surprised at is that no one is asking about comparing settings or trying to capture error messages (though to be honest, I've not seen any listed above in any case).
Short of it is this: IE doesn't parse HTML the same way as all of the other browsers. We all know this. Microsoft has admitted to it, they call it "Feature enhancements". Regardless, they customize the standard just enough to force everyone to use their product. /shrug/
End result. I'm on Firefox 104 and not having any issues with 1SRC.
{EDIT}
Forgot to mention: I _DO_ however have WIKI's all over the place. But it's not just from 1SRC. I've been wondering how they got activated on Mozzy and how I can turn them off. They are of no use to me, and frankly, are a bit distracting.

Mr. Nako you beat me to it. To use adblock get the extension from
here (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=10&application=firefox) and install it. Then go to Tools -> Adblock -> Preferences and add "kontera.com" (without the quotes) as a new filter.

Thanks alot! Sigh of relief here, can finally use the smilies, backbutton, and FF is faster now ^_^.
Thanks for reporting these.
I usually use three browsers: Safari, Camino, and Firefox but haven't encountered the problems. We'll look into kontera.com
:)

Kontera is a spinoff of eZula, a noted pest. Kill quickly please.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. For the record, I don't use IE either. I've been using AvantBrowser since Alan pointed it out a couple of years ago. I rarely have issues with it, it's very fast, and it does a great job of ad blocking.

Joel, Check your tags. If Kontera intended for lurkers only, perhaps http://www.pcguide.com/vb/archive/index.php/t-37273.html will help.

Well, I now have added kontera to AdBlock list in fireFox 1.0.1. Will have to download that latest update though! Do saved passwords, cookies, bookmarks, plugins etc survive?
applejosh

If you upgrade overtop, yes. I still have all my passwords, etc. (Although I seem to recall even uninstalling and re-installing and stuff was still there, but I can't remember for certain. If you're using Win2k/XP, all your settings, etc. are saved in a folder in your Document and Settings directory. Not sure about the 9x based versions of Windows. (The Linux version saves that info in a .mozilla directory I believe.)

SamuraiCatJB recommended a really neat way to block ads system wide. The good thing about this is that it should work regardless of your browser.
http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88276
In Linux, if you edit your /etc/hosts file and force it to resolve ad servers to something like 127.0.0.1, then they effectively go away..
Though, there seem to be some new intelliad servers that I haven't had them time to bother to figure out.
BTW, regarding the IE vs other thing... I don't think that you can fairly say that everything else is third-party and stuff like that. Don't forget that for some of us, IE is not a first-party browser. Alternative browsers such as Firefox, Konqueror, Links, Lynx, Opera, etc are all we have. But either way, Firefox rarely gives me problems with anything. There was a period in time when the thread tools button didn't work.. but it works now.

rcxAsh,
Your link is wrong . . . no posts from SamCat on that one!
I have to turn off my OnGuard protection in Spyware Doctor to access 1src at all. What is going on? I don't have time to fiddle with nit picky settings. 1src managment needs to take a long hard look at their advertisement strategy! There have been several instances lately of annoying, abnoxious ads, and now potentially harmful spyware ads. Get a grip Reggie and Joel.

We have been evaluating Kontera for a few days and found it unsatisfactory. We have removed their tags and everything (in terms of the speed of page rendering) should be back to normal.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
