thanx in advance for all your patience with me ... "the new guy".

i broke the screen on my zire 72 this week and while trying to find a way to get it fixed i found out about this new lifedrive.

i thought i was going to have to settle with buying a new 72 (by the way is that really my best option?), but now i wonder if i should just get the lifedrive.

the only thing ill miss is the camera and shooting video, but if the ld is really all that hot, why not just be happy with my cellphones camera?

suggestions? advice? what do YOU think?

ps,

great forum, glad i found it!!!!!!

that depends on you. do you want to spent the xtra money? Do you use 320X480 display? do you use 4gb of info? do you use wi-fi? and the lifedrive is aluminum unlike the zire 72.

Hey welcome to 1src. You are new to the palm world ( im assuming since you JUST heard about the LD) so heres some advice.
Since you are new don't get the LD it is more for more advance palm users who really need it. If i were you i would check out the e2 it is terrifc it is what i currentley use and it was an upgrade from my zire 72 (& t/e). Heres a qustion i was just wondering.....On your zire do you get alot of fatal alerts, errors, etc.? because i did.

Ps. i am sorry to those of you who are sick of hearing the same ol answer from me about the e2 but it is what i truly beleive....I think EVEREYONE should have an e2. :)

Lol.
CoasterMania, did you get your WiFi card yet? Please write a review about it. I would love to see it as my aunt is currently looking for a new PDA and i want to recomend the E2 to her, but she has a Wireless router now and that is a must.

thank all of you for your replies i really am grateful! palmcoaster, you're right, i am a noobie, but im a quick one. i like the fact the ld has wi-fi ... my 72, as you know, didnt.
even if i had the card, what good would it do me without a second sd slot to store what ever i grabed while running through the matrix? on vacation, away from my pc, filling up the 72 with docs, photos, and vids is NOTHING. i want more games, more music, and feature films ... no i dont want a psp because i also write a lot and even use the voice recorder from time to time (musician). calendar, ... alarm, ... fix my breakfast, .... doodle ... i use it a lot. enough to make my wife say, "you love that thing more than you love me" :)

yes, i did get a few fatal alerts. about ten in the last seven months or so.

Choiranthony,
LifeDrive was amazing and awesome... it's better with ZIre 72 :D , if your a movie freak try the LIfeDrive you can play movie about an hour.

What 'Hollywood' movie last for 1 hour? I can watch a full feature 'Hollywood Flick' on my TH55 without recharging!

If you don't need Wifi and the bigger screen, the Zire 72 is a better choice. It's speedier and reasonably more bug-free than the Lifedrive.

Mmm... also consider a TH55 if you like the Zire 72.
The trade-off is poorer camera quality and slightly slower CPU, but you get the longest battery life of any OS5 PDA, dual-wireless (IF you get a /E model that is...) and HiRes+.

>longest battery life of any OS5 PDA

have to call you out on that one, cyker lol. should read: longest battery life of any (non-Japanese) OS5 PDA. The VZ absolutely smothers it in terms of battery life... at the cost of weighing 10 pounds lol :D

seriously though, cyker's right. you should definitely consider the TH (if you can find it at all). Otherwise, I personally love the LifeDrive!

I just sold a Zire 72 to get a LifeDrive. I'm not sure I did the right thing. Just get your hands on a LD before you decide. If I had to recommend a palm to anybody, I'd say the Zodiac 2 could answer all needs except the camera ones. Two sd slots will enable WiFi, and it's a speedy thing. I've had mine ever since they came out, and it's pretty much unstoppable. (I'm sort of a collector, and do use all my palms.)

The best thing is test it out, play with it, see how it is.

It's a pity you can't 'test-drive' a PDA for a week or so before decing whether or not to buy...

You can, if you're in the US and near a Comp-USA or some other place that will let you return it in a couple of weeks. I still say look for a Zodiac.
