The apple has a lot of movie trailers, of course they are quicktime format. The TG 50 can player the qt film (thru the Image Converter). I go to:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/gods_and_generals/
there are several size of files, like: 240x100, 320x136, 480x200, 520x216. But whick suits for the TG50?

320x136...

All my SNL skits are 320x240, which is perfect, except I don't know if there is going to be any stretching because I haven't tried watching movies yet.

Wait, it plays native Quicktime? Sweet! Which codecs does it support?

Eeee! Can't wait for mine to get here! :D

actually, the TG doesn't play the qt directly, there's a software, Image Converter, in the TG's CD. it can convert the qt into MQV.

In the normal and hi-quality modes the image converter will always resize the video to 320x240, so you will want to find something that size, or the closest to it.

Quicktime is just mpg, and the clie's can play mpg, so can I watch movies without image converter? I have a Mac so obviously I can't run that app.

Actually, Quicktime files are different than MPG. You can run native .MPG off of your device though. If you do a search, there are a number of different threads that explain how to do that.

Quicktime is just a file wrapper, the same way AVI files work. It's the codec inside that really matters, and a Quicktime file can be MPEG, Indeo Video, DivX or anything else.

So, have to use the converter, huh? Guess I'll stick with my Kinoma software, then. Otherwise, I'd have to pop into Virtual PC to use Image Converter.

does Kinoma play quicktime files natively? I hate having to use Image Converter everytime I want to view a quicktime file

Kinoma producer can convert Quicktime files but I believe the player does not support it natively. So, you're still back at square one.

However, I converted the Matrix Reloaded trailer and a few others and people are blown away by the 29.97 fps rate... a Kinoma test actually shows the TG50 has enough horsepower to play it back at 90fps. Gotta love that ARM processor.
