I discovered that the Graffiti Libs that Igor_N released for the T5 and the Treo 650 cause a Fatal Exception in Blazer on my LD.

When you enter text into a text area on a web page, if you exceed the size of the text area, usually Blazer will open a text box and the virtual graffiti area for you. If you have the G1 graffiti libs installed, you get a fatal exeption every time, instead.

No G1 on the LD for now.

Bump. I'm seeing this too on my LD, using G1 libs that I found somewhere:

G140S54.zip
Graffiti Library_enUS.prc (23,058 bytes)
Graffiti_Library.prc (31,526 bytes)

Anyone know if there are any more recent G1 libs?

I have seen this as one of many ways Balzer can crash, I normally adjust the font view size on blazer so it will allow me to enter the text in the box required (if that makes sense).

I don't think you will see a 'newer' Graf 1 since it isn't in the developement stream once 2 was intro'd. My dad uses TealScript and has it adjusted to his way of writting - a cross between special and graf. 1.
While I really don't like graf 2, I have noticed it seems to work better on the LD than my previous Palms. Still issues with doing 'k' and 'x's.

SteerPike, thanks for the tip, that works for me. It would have been hard to avoid all textboxes in Blazer.

Gar, I mean a more recently hacked G1 library. Igor Nesterov has done such development in the past.

I have that too, however I'd much rather give up some functionality in Blazer than give up the ability to enter text. JOT is unacceptable (and I tried it for a month!)

Another work around is to use Avantgo when you need to enter text in boxes.

Have you found AvantGo to be stable on the LD? It would crash on me, and I heard somewhere that AvantGo admits that their Palm client isn't supported on the LD yet.

Have you tried TealScript as a G2 replacement? I like that you can configure & train individual letters, if you want (kinda reminds me of my Newton days). The only drawback is that it has a hard time distinguishing between a button click, a cursor move click and a punctional click.

I dunno' guys. I've been using the hacked graffiti 1 libraries and the few times I've had to enter really long URLs, Blazer didn't crash at all. In fact, I haven't had any troubles at all with Graffiti since I installed it. :)

For me, it crashes when the text exceeds the length of a small textbox, like if a web page as a Search field. Blazer sees that the text overflows the textbox, and launches a new dialog window for you to continue to enter text. That's when Blazer crashes my LD.

If you can duplicate the above steps without crashing your LD, then you should zip up your G1 lib files and post them here. :)

I'll have a copy too please if the above is true with your G1 Library

Yeah, I wonder what's different?

I tried Tealscript years ago, and hated it. It's probably better than G2/JOT, but even after 4 hours of tinkering I couldn't get it to replicate Graffiti decently.
