It seems like that's not turning out to be the case, so I'd like to resurrect this thread...

Can people post as they find software incompatibilities?

So far AIM seems to be a serious problem, causing hard resets.

I've got the following installed that seem to work:

Agendus Pro 9.05
Championship Euchre 6.20 (6.16 ran but everything was cut off on the bottom of the screen)
ClockDeluxe 1.50
Farkle 1.01
SpaceTrader 1.2.1
Uninstall Manager 2.70

Asia (by PDAMill) has caused a couple of soft resets, but they're not reproducible. I reset once starting a game, and another time launching the app. Both times I got the "Fatal Error" message after reset pointing to Asia as the culprit.

eReader Pro 2.6.1 has caused me two kinds of problems, but I'm working around them and am able to use it:
1. I reported a problem in another thread with showing/hiding the DIA causing a soft reset;
2. I've got some problems with eReader reading the /books directory on the LD. Sometimes it reads and displays the list just fine; other times I get junk and the device will soft reset if I leave it on the Library screen.

That's about it for me right now. What apps are/are not causing other people problems?

gems: works if you use the generic 320x480 with no music.
aol: this works if you copy from sd to ram, but make sure you get rid of it in ram and LD manager other wise it will crash. just keep copying back and fourth.
plant tycoon/ fishtycoon: works fine
most of all apps from astraware work.
easynotes: cant get it to work.
acid solitare: works great
Jpix: loop resets
Another Ball 3: had to do resets to get out of it.
Air Hockey: no

I have audible working-just activate the device thru the audible manager, then copy over your files you want to listen to in drive mode. I couldn't get it to sync like my other palms.

I think ALL PDAMills software is causing resets on the LifeDrive. I know Asia does and so have others reported. Anyone else tried any other Gamebox games?

I take it you've not found LifeKeys at PalmPowerups (http://www.palmpowerups.com) yet? It lets you register more than one key press at a time, and I'm happily running the NES & GB portions of LJP. I can't run any SNES games though, due to memory issues.

All of the above are installed on the Drive, though I'm finding music playback is choppy within most of the games. LJP works as noted above, but MyUAE gives the same memory problems as the SNES module. Super Miners Beta works for me as long as I stay clear of the high scores.

Oh good, it's not a hardware issue. Perhaps Palm will fix this in next update? I found it annoying that I could play Zap!2016 again but couldn't really get anywhere because of the keys.

I've heard that Fitaly works fine on the LD, as long as one loads the skin with my mySkin utility (www.zlthemes.com/Programs.php). I have a beta test version of a free alternative to mySkin that also does the job (I am hoping it'll get bundled with Fitaly eventually).

I didn't try HandyShopper 2.9b, but HandyShopper 2.9c worked fine on my LD. I was able to access my 2.9b databases, and I was able to create a new database and new entries with problems.

HS 2.9c came out yesterday, piping fresh hot!

I just read at palmfocus that microquad key.pdb is not recognized, but if you place all files in one folder on SD, you'll have it ok. Works fine formy LD.

I'm sure there's newer versions of most of these, but these were the prc's I had from my last palm so I just stuck to them, with the exception of Verichat which crashes if I use a recent version, but works fine at v2.19.

The only things I've tried that really didn't work are WifiWhere, Acedior, Causerie and Crazy Athletics, all of which caused resets. My only other grumble is that I went into a reset loop when I tried to sync using KPilot under Linux, so I'm having to reboot to windows to sync (grrrr).

Interesting list pijak. I had tried Causerie for their 30 day trial with no problems. I thought it worked very well and noticed no resets from it. I wonder there's some conflict between it and something else in your list. (I'm still waiting for an answer from them as to wheather the >$20 standard version reg price works beyond a predetermined fixed period e.g. some other IM apps have a yearly fee rather than a one time charge.)

Handmap 5.1.2 - works great with maps on SD. Small maps on HD ok but larger maps (eg London - 2Mb) crash LD when dragginng map around with stylus etc. Id give it a medium rating if maps on SD and low if maps on LD

Bugme! notepad 5.21 - LOW/incompatible

Slow, display issues when importing pictures as notes. Didnt get much further than this, just uninstalled it. Did I mention how very slllloooooowww it is.

Has anyone had any luck with WiFiGenie. I've tried multiple times with no luck...keep getting the looping soft reset.

All I want is some software to stream music and video from my network and I hear this is the software that will do it. I tried WiFile Pro but it appears to have to download the entire file to the handheld before it will play.

Trip Boss (trip management application) 1.13 works well.

Wikipedia with Tome Raider 3 works well, althought there is a problem with the free eval version (the screen become white and you have to blindly click on a button to get the display back).

I have DayNotez, works fine. I haven't installed PocketQuicken on the LD (used it on TH55), but am using SplashMoney without problems.

After my trustee reliable IBM Workpad c500 (Palm V) I was amazed at how unreliable the Lifedrive was. I've only had it for a few weeks and suffered from 5 or 6 resets a day. I removed all my apps and started again and now seem to be getting on top of things. Have documented my experiences on:

Get the newest version. The version I was using during the summer kept crashing. I downloaded the new one about a week ago and NO PROBLEMS!

HandyShopper 2.9c does not crash anymore when you make a new database.

mobileClock (formerly Bob's Alarm) however, does not work 100%... could be a conflict with SharkCache. Anyone else can confirm this about mobileClock?

Good question. I have problems when SharkCache is activated. I don't know why but I'm guessing that eating up most of the 4MB available leads to instability. I now have SharkCache deactivated and have issued a soft reset. I'll see if things still continue to be unstable.

Honestly, I don't really see the difference of having SharkCache cache apps -- the wait time seems to be the same for me. To Tyler, it's a good app, but I don't see its usefulness for my needs.

Hey Joel, I am using mobileClock without crashes at all.

A week ago I hard resetted LifeDrive to start from zero and since then, no resets. I got rid of ZLauncher which I believe is behind of many crashes.

I'd love to use BackupMan. Got a copy of v1.53, didn't work, told me that v1.54 would but that also fails to complete a backup.

BackupMan 1.54 works for my LD. The only time it crashed was when I had Dimmer 2.14 enabled too. Disabling Dimmer allowed BackupMan to work fine.

I have been using BalanceLog on Palm devices since 2002. When I first installed it on my LD it caused a soft reset whenever I searched its database. When I contacted Healthetech costumer support, they had me install the Tungsten T3 patch and it has worked perfectly since then. The patch can be downloaded from the Healthetech website.

I had eMail contact with the company now maintaining Decuma OneSpot input plugin. There is no and won't be a support for LifeDrives.

Decuma OneSpot (might be called slightly different) is pre installed on most of the Sony Clies I know. It offers You to input text with almost Your personal hand writing. It was very satisfying on the Sony.

I think it is sad not to be for LD. :-(

I have to report that Iconsplus may not be LifeDrive friendly. It has caused me some major problems. Beware.

update: I tried again after a hard(quick) reset with very few apps installed (and no hacks) and the result is the same. I think there must be a real issue here. I am in contact with the devlopers who are very friendly but they dont seem to be able to reproduce the problem..

I would definitively don't recommend anybody to install SharkCache

While it speeds apps (for instance, SplashMoney loads much faster), it makes your palm unstable

When you reset it, you'll see "shark caching..."
then I pressed the 'OK' button, and it resets again

That's the only app I would really not recommend

I notice that nobody here uses BackupBuddy VFS. Have there been problems with it. I used it for a while and than it just stopped working. I am having some other issues and I know that I will have to do a hard reset and reload my apps but I haven't had the time. Am I correct in assuming that most people are using Resco Backup?

Also, when I do the hard reset should I load UninstallManager as the 1st app?

Ended up getting a LifeDrive this weekend as my Zodiac was given to my wife and I wanted something new. Nice that you guys spent all this time listing software as it will make loading up my PDA much easier. I have updated to the 2.0 update and so far no issues at all. I was really expecting not to like the LifeDrive, but so far so good.

Not sure why nobody reported it here, maybe I am the first. I've had headaches using Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary 11th Edition on my LD. The software is card-based (a 32MB MMC card) and not installable. The dictionary & thesaurus are two separate "eBook" entities requiring the included Mobipocket Reader v4.7 as the ebook browser. The problem is that the Mobipocket Reader v4.7 constantly loses the link to the dictionary database (when tapping the dictionary ebook link it doesn't respond) hence making the whole dictionary not accessible. The link to the thesaurus ebook is always fine so there's no problem using the thesaurus. Once in a while, the broken dictionary link causes soft reset and the LD's system error log shows that the reset was caused by Mobipocket (a Fatal Exception.)

I haven't found any solution to work around this issue. The dictionary has the best definition that I've seen on any PDA dictionary software by far (when it works, that is.) So hopefully someone who knows how to fix it will share here.

are working flawlessly on my LD.
UDMH did not work,unfortunately,although many people managed to get it to work. :)
One question - why would you like to install card export,when you have Drive Mode, which works great?
