i played with the T|W for a while at COMPUSA, and much preferred its keyboard to that of the TG50. That said, I'd rather have the TG50.

I have also tried both of the keyboards and I agree, the tungsten w's is loads better. The tg50's keys are to embedded in the unit where as the tungstens are out enough you can hit them easily compared to anything else i have tried. But i don't want either of them, I like my nx!!!

Most expansive review of the Palm Tungsten W I've seen thus far, with extreme details re the keyboard:
Bottom-line: no backlit keyboard + AT&T + manual-only retrieval of email + old processor technology = "ho-hum".
Having played with both:
the Tungsten W keyboard has two strong points going for it over the TG50: (1) raised keys - much higher than TG's, (2) more comprehensive keys - like a shortcut key - why didn't they put this on the TG? I guess we'll have to wait for a keyboard utility - doesn't sound too hard.
Now, the TG has two strong points going for it over the Tungsten: (1) backlit keys - this is a VERY big deal! Are you in a dark room? Then you're screwed with the Tungsten! (2) The keys are definitely a little too flush in my opinion, BUT they feel incredibly STRONG! I have strong fingers, and I feel like I don't have to hold back while typing. The Tungsten on the other hand has nice raised keys but they feel VERY plastic-like compared to the solid rubbery feel of the TG. Playing with the Tungsten, I felt like I couldn't type hard and that with time the keys could even break (remember, I have a heavy hand!) The whole unit, in fact, feels quite plasticky compared to the solid TG.
I guess you know where my preference lies! :-) The Tungsten keys are nice and raised, but plasticky and flimsy compared to the well padded (and backlit!) keyboard of the TG.
here is a keyboard utility but it seems that only Japanese version
is avalible so far....

Cool. Can't wait for the English version to see if it does what I'm looking for.

I like the raised feel of the Ws better also, but like the backlight of the sony. You don't have to get a W if you perfer Palms keyboard wait for the palm C or whatever its going to be called.
