I knew when I saw this when I woke up that some folks would be partying in the street today. I'm not one of them, but it is interesting news.

It's been out the door, just not in handhelds. Lots of smartphones already run it, and are just waiting on final FCC approval.

there is one phone that is out outside the us that you can buy with cobalt.

Jeff, can you elaborate on how many/which models there are. Last I heard there was only one phone considering it as stated above.

I would like to see it as well but am looking forward to how a linux based OS would do.

Along those same lines, how much more innovation does there need to be done for a PDA? It can run Office apps great and there are tons of scheduling, games, and db apps. I guess now that they've added WiFi and the net, I don't see what else they can do except some tweaks here and there.

Like someone else said, what has really changed in the OS in the past 5 years, it still does all that it ever did.

I don't remember the Cobalt licensees off the top of my head. No big names like Samsung or Moto or Nokia. Mostly Euro and Chinese companies.
