I've had the T665 for exactly a week, and I Don't think there is really any other PDA that beats in in all major categories. Portabilty, size, function, and style. I just traded up from a T615 and I thought that was a great PDA. This is my thrird PDA ( Palm IIIxe, T615) and I have been following the industry for a while now and I believe that I is one of the best, if not THE best. I was looking to get the TG but, when I played with it in BestBuy, I couldn't get over the flip cover. Just my two cents....:D

I totally agree. I've had mine for a week and a half and really think its great. I would like to replace the font with a heavier style but it just doesn't seem to work out. Other than that its the best.

I think the t665 is a great machine, I've had it since it came out. There is nothing out there now that could replace it for me, not the TG or NX, though I'm sure something will come out soon. You will get a lot of productivity and enjoyment out of it in the meantime.

As for increasing the font size try thinfont fix in the files section here or fonthack123

I've had mine for over nine months and like it more than when I first turned it on. I also don't think that anything else out there that comes close to all its features and form factor.

I agree with you all. This is the best PDA for me considering size, functionalities, coolness. I guess the only thing that can beat it is another clie t665 with an OS5, a 200+ MHz processor, a virtual graffiti area, and a bluetooth/wifi support. Sounds like an NX? yep, exept for the size!! ARE YOU LISTENING SONY?

Use Thin Font Fix, it's free and makes the font much nicer. It's at:

Also, I've been loving my T665 since September '02!

I've been using the t665 since June of 2002, and it has been a great device. It's size/weight allows me to pocket it at work and play. The ability to take the pda with you at all times is prerequisite to its intrinsic usefulness. On top of the organizational assistance that every pda provides, the convenience of office apps, map programs, mp3 playa, and addictive games on the t665 truly enhances your everday life.
I have never owned a pda prior to the t665, simply because past pda implementations never quite lived up to the concept of what a pda should be and do for you. Now that I'm use to having this one, I can really understand and appreciate why folks would spend hundreds of dollars on a cheesy little device like this. Considering all the minutes of all the days that it assisted or entertained me, the t665 has provided a super return on investment.

I am about to lock-in on my purchase of the T665C (almost 30 days from BestBuy), and I think I will actually keep it.

Tried NX70V previously - and that one sure is a beauty, but I felt uncomfortable using it at work - it is way too much of a distraction for my office colleagues.

The T665C has an understated look - almost looks like a good quality calculator at first glance, which is important to me - yet it has most of the features I want (Hi-res, Mp3). The only thing I miss from the NX70V is the beautiful large screen with virtual grafitti area. Just made looking at spreadsheets and other docs seem so much easier.

I have been teetering on the edge of trying the SJ33 - because the battery is rated much higher - but again, the flip top cover, while very practical, makes it look like a gadget.

Sigh... a few more days with the T665C, and then no turning back - at least until Sony releases a device with a 320x480 VG screen with the T665C form factor.

Thanks for the ThinFont Fix link. I'll give it a shot tonight. Incidently, I am using a trial version of Teal Magnify. It takes a little getting used to but its pretty neat.

You should try the OS5 fonts that everyone's talking about.... better than the ThinFontFix.

This could not be closer to the truth. Talk about a killer PDA that would be!

Unfortunately, Sony thinks wrong. I think their thoughts are, as you joked, that this would be an NX.

Not even close. NX is bulky, clamshell, has a keyboard that many of us think isn't worth the increase in size. This new T series unit is still wrong. They made the screen effectively more useless by removing the hard grafitti area but not increasing the height to 480. And, if you ask me, the keyboard is a joke. Enough already! I don't want a PDA with a keyboard. My fingers are big!

You can download the fonts from Lubak's website (http://www.domino.sk/lubak/). He has a link to FontHack123 v.4.0c at the top of the OS 4 page. All is free for OS 4 ($8 for OS 5), and the OS 5 font looks great on my T665C. Lubak has a number of other fonts as well.

I just tried FontHack 123 & Lubak's OS 5 fonts. I deactivated ThinFont Fix first, but after selecting the various OS 5 fonts, the text looks distorted.

[EDIT]
I solved the "problem".

Never mind, I solved my own problem somehow. The OS 5 font does look nice.

Have you tried Thin Font Fix, available at PalmGear? With the check of one box within TFF you can make all your fonts appear bolder and more readable. I highly recommend it. ~Jack :D

Been using Thin Font Fix for a few days now and I'm happy with it. Previously tried the OS5 fonts with the Font Hack 123 for os 4 but never got it to work quite right. I think I'm where I want to be with TFF and it was easy to do.
Thanks for everybody's help and suggestions. These boards are a wealth of information.

Agreed...Thin Font Fix is simple and seems to work fine.
But curious about the 665. I have a 615 and love it. But didn't a recent thread say the 665 was discontinued? If it is almost perhaps it would be a good buy.

Is it worth upgrading?

I recommended Thin Font Fix earlier in this thread, it's simple to use and is free. However, I think Lubak's OS 5 font looks better.
What problem did you have with FontHack 123?
my "problem" was that I selected the standard, non-HR Clie fonts to be replaced by the OS 5 fonts. After I correctly chose just the HR fonts everything was great:
HrStandard - OS5 (0)
HrBold - OS5 (1)
HrLarge - OS5 (2)
HrLargeBold - OS5 (3)

My ONLY 'problem' with the wonderful T665 is that of the on-going battle with cases and accessories.

I STILL want a thin-line flip-top metal case with external slots for MS and possibly a compartment for earbuds.

FontHack 123 caused me problems as well. I finally just decided to leave it off in favor of ThinFontFix. This has worked for me since I am trying to avoid hacks, etc. as much as reasonable.

I love my T665 as well, but I adore the vision of an OS5 Version with software graffiti and that speedy processor. The TG50 has alot going for it if you have little fingers, let us pray that the sony gods are with us, and soon they will sacrifice the virigin we are all waiting for.

Sid, When I tried the OS5 fonts from Lubak I used the mapping that was on his site. I still had a lot of garbage on the screen. I'm going to try it again with you recent suggestions and see how it goes. Work is interferring with my pda time so I probably won't get to it until the weekend.

Yup, I reckon the 665 is the best all-rounder atm - not as cumbersome and bulky as the NV/X/Z series, yet has the awesome screen and multimedia capabilities. I also prefer the form factor over the SJ's (Which are just too darn short!!).

The only things I dislike about it are a) The buttons (But this is minor), and b) The battery life!! <-- This is really the achillies heel of the T665

If there was a T665 with the battery life of an NV (Not NX/NZ because they suck as much on battery life :P), and less crap buttons. And heck maybe even a virtual graffiti area :D then that would be the dog's proverbials :)

I don't give a monkey's about OS5 - IMHO it's overrated atm. The ARM CPU is nifty, but frankly it's only really essential for multimedia stuff like video/sound and games (And I *neeed* my hacks damnit! :P). Since the 665 has an MP3 DSP built in, I'm perfectly happy sticking with my Amiga-era 68k CPU :D

Now if only Sony'd release an MS-Pro driver for all the old Clie's....

It may help to tap 'Reset All', then make Lubak's directed font assignments. That gets rid of any non-standard leftover remnants.
