Palmone are advertising the LD for AU$899.00, this is roughly US$ 675.00.
This is a lot more than the US$499 list price. I have checked a few online sellers in Oz and they are all listing at AU$899.00. No doubt over time the price will drop, but the inital cost is a lot more than in the US. I would imagine shipping to Oz from the country of manufacture, (China I think) would be simmilar to the cost of shipping to the US. Even allowing for our 10% GST, its still quite a bit more expensive
It is possible to order via the States but I prefer to deal with a local suppler.
Are people from other countries seeing similar mark-ups?
Is this just greed?
I think the device looks awesome and has lots of features that suit me. I am looking forward to getting one but don't see why it has to be so much more expensive.
