If you are planning on getting the LifeDrive but you just barely have the money then wait.I can not give out to much info besides that there will be a special "add-on" to the LifeDrive, the actual price of the device will not lower but we will be adding on something special,so wait if you can. Thank You,

Henry,
You are doing a big service to potential buyers & thereby show you are a good person.
In this spirit, please pass on the following input; because there are so many people who are echoing this stuff that I've seen on various fora on the net.
Tell your bosses & anyone who'll listen that there is a lot of confusion about the 64Mb of base memory - is it DRAM or a partition of the hard disk? Also MAJOR POINT: if someone gets a Hard reset from using new software that causes a conflict & the whole 4gb gets wiped then it makes the LD a no-deal. I saw this from others on the fora here & I heartily agree. It defeats the whole purpose of what a handheld has come to mean to a user. I switched from a HandEra 330 (very well thought out) to a T3 & didn't even dream of not getting an SD so I could backup onto it w/out having to wait to return home to my pc to do a restore (or even have a backup on hand so I could beta test s/w or have a backup to depend when troubleshooting) even though it meant spending even more $ to replace my CF card w/an SD card.
The LD seems to be more of a way for P1 to compete w/iPOD and have a 'power user' PDA carved into it (with serious faults) than creating a viable upgrade to the T3. The T5 w/no voice recorder or vibrate alert & faulty new file system doesn't cut it; so why would I put my 'life' onto 4gb of traumatic crash waiting to happen?
Also, let them know that the T3's battery issue & digitizer drift are big problems & should both be fixed - one w/having a user replaceable battery (like cell phones) & the other w/plain good old good engineering. Oh, & let them know that the policy of having the offshore customer support people who sound like they don't speak the language & are barely understandable & who point fingers at the user or 3d party software or anything else but a problem w/the unit itself is just stupid. The folks at P1 pretty much have a monopoly, but caustic customer service will cause people to go elsewhere i.e. the dark side of Windoze.
Or consider the fact that a cottage industry of battery replacements has been created ever since the T3 has had such battery problems & why is there software that is made to underclock the processor so that battery life can be saved?

Will whatever this "special feature" is be available for those of us who already have a LD to purchase by itself?

Techniacal, I am very sorry but I can not just listen to everone's problems about the unit, and i can not fix them if i did. Please I did not come to this forum to be asked qustions like "why should I put my life on the line if it's going to crash".If you don't perfer a PalmOne product that's fine with me.I am not here to be asked qustions e that. As for the "Special Feature",Yes you will be able to buy this seperately
Thank you. Henry Howards

henry - how can you work as an engineer for p1 and be based in Baltimore, MD? Shouldn't you be based in CA to be effective?

Mr. Howards,
I was going to buy one this afternoon. Can you please tell me the nature of the upgrade and will it be available after I buy? Is it something to do with the memory?
regards, sharky

I believe the upgrade might be the usb-on-the-go. That is still unofficial and hence can't be mentioned by anyone at Palm1.

The USB On the Go Box, a device that connects between the LifeDrive and a digital camera is coming out in June. I'm guessing this will be the free add-on Mr. Howard is alluding to.
