I bought a LifeDrive last night and I was curious of other opinions on the wifi range. I owned an iPAQ 4150 at one time and the LD wifi seems considerably worse to me. Any LD owners have an opinion on wifi range?

Thanks

One more thing. I just noticed that even 10 feet way from my access point I am only getting 3 out of 4 bars.

I hope that isnt the capability of the LD. Palm is better than that. My TH can hit at 80% 20 feet away through walls.

I'm getting full signal when in the same room with the access point (as we'd hope) and 3 out of 4 bars when 40 feet away through walls and one floor down.

At Starbucks I've gotten a strong signal looking at the little bars (not sure how accurate that is) and the big green bar under WiFi prefs.

Palm is definately NOT better than that...or you would've bought one instead of a Clie...right? LOL

I've got a Netgear 802.11b router, on the 2nd floor of a brick house, and my LD stayed connected all the way across the street. In my car. :)

sounds like I may have had a bad one.

I'm at full bars 30 feet away through 2 walls, so maybe you do have a bad one. The LD's WiFi is much better than my TC, which isn't able to connect at all from this same distance and obstructions...

peace,

Mike

I'm a real fan of the Wi-Fi in the LD. It has WPA, and I get a decent signal all over the house.

One annoying thing is that it has problems with DHCP on my Linksys WRT54G. I set it to a static IP and it connects like magic, though.

I haven't measured distance, but in my testing, I've gotten the EXACT range as I've gotten from my palmOne WiFi SD card. It looses the signal at the same places, it has the same signal as the WiFi card in my T|T3 in all places...

Now I gotta measure distance ;). Honestly, I was expecting better...but that shows you what I know ;).

I dont know if this has anything to do w/ it ,but try tightening your entenna. I had to buy a D-Link for the WiFi card, when I first tried to use it I had very low signal stenght, 3-7ft, from the router. I dont know what happened but it worked real fin before I sold it.
