PLEASE READ!
I was playing Billiards (by Megasoft) about 20min ago on my NX60. Then, all of a sudden, it does a soft reset. It restarts normally, but I notice that it had reset the time to 1/1/02 12:00PM. Next, I notice that my memory stick icon on the silk bar has a shaded picture of a MS and a question mark over it. It will not read the MS, or any MS that I put in. Does anyone know what to do? I need the MS back!

!st, it sounds like it did a hard reset by itself. Second after it hard reset you have re-inatall the nx update. That happened to me but it was wiyh a ms pro. Good Luck!

Actually, I still had all my data, just the time was reset. Did you too have that ms/questionmark icon?

My clock has never reset on it's own without a hard rest proceeding it, otherwise no questionmark.

If it didn't come back, then probably a hard reset is in order. I was annoyed a few minutes ago myself, when I had typed up a long email and Outlook Express decides that it needs to shut down, because it encountered an error, grrrrr!

BTW, never had my clock reset either, so the clie must have encountered a major error. Maybe one the timers being used with Bejeweled.

I already did a hard reset. It didn't work. Any suggestions?

Let the battery completely discharge.

Will that reload the rom? How come a hard reset doesn't do it?

Do you remember that the clock normally doesn't get reset when you do a hard reset? It's also stated in the manual. So in that case, there is still some memory being used that may not get refreshed. The only way to do it, is to kill the power totally, either by removing the battery or letting it run down. Same thing used to happen to desktop PC's. A reset sometimes wasn't enough, one had to actually turn it off completely.

If that doesn't do it, then it probably needs replacement.

Well, I did not drop it or do any physical damage to it, so is it most likely a software problem? Can hardware just burn out because of software?

but after the battery drains u still have to to wait a few days for all the memory to dissapear...i know on the m505 u had 10days to recharge the battery before u lose all the data

I agree. This is always my last resort and I'm so impatient so I always disconnect the battery, though I think that voids the warranty. Good Luck

There are no guarantees on anything. Sure it could be hardware failure, it happens all the time in other electronic devices. Especially those that might have been damaged by static discharge. This comes from 40+ yrs. exp.

All I am saying is that it's possible. At the moment, I have no idea how long after the power is removed, that the memory would be completely cleared out. I would have unplugged the battery, which requires removing the rear cover. It's a delicate operation and one has to be very observant, example: make sure the hold slider button realigns with the hold switch after reassembly.

I did that. It still doesn't work. I sent for a warranty repair.
