You know, that stupid flashing "Winner" banner ad, to a sleazy vacation huckster, is really, really, REALLY annoying.

I really have to agree. That's got to be one of the most irritating ads I've seen.

The worst ads are those that make sounds and noises.

The creators should be lined up and shot.

It's gone now, though. THANKFULLY.

I agree, it was annoying. Don't those kind of ads sometimes cause seizures?

Any "strobe" effect such as blinking lights in a nightclub can trigger seizures in a person with an epileptic condition, even if that condition is latent and there has never been a seizure before!

There are ads that make sounds now?

I guess it's not too bad having WinAmp keep the sound card busy whenerver I'm on the comp eh? :D

Those talking ads scare me! I usually jump out my chair when I hear one!!

If you want to see really irritating ads, go to weather.com. They flash, they have sound and they take over your screen until you can find the little tiny button that says "close". If you miss the button...not hard to do on a moving target...whola, you have clicked on the ad and earned weather.com a referral.

Yes, the flashing ad on this site is annoying, and yellow rose, you are correct, flashing banners, strobes etc can induce a seizure in an epileptic, or worse, an undiagnosed epileptic.

While I understand that Cliesource has to be advertising supported to continue to provide all of it's excellent content, I would hope that they could be a little more selective in their advertising.

But if it's blinking, it means you won a chance to become part of their spam mailing list.

The worst ads are those that make sounds and noises.

I turned off all sound in Windows and Internet Explorer about ten years ago and have never looked back.

I frequently either play back MP3s or Internet Radio stations using my PC sound card, and the last thing I want is something on top of that from some web site.

Try either Spybot (http://security.kolla.de/)or Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/).

The ads help the site run but we'll see what we can do with the flashing ads.

Thanks.

Thanks! I don't mind ads. You have to pay for the site somehow. It's just the flashing ones! Yeesh! Bluelight special at K-mart!
