Just up on the Sony site.

"News From Sony about the PEG-NZ90 CLIÉ™ Handheld

Posted: March 27th, 2003

Some of the earlier production units have been shipped with an incorrect keyboard. The '¥' printed on the keyboard corresponds to a ' / ' (forward slash). Pressing this button with the function button will show a ' / ' on the screen.

To correct this problem, we will be preparing a sticker showing ' / ' to cover the wrong key printed on the keyboard. If you would like to receive this sticker, please call Toll Free 1-877-760-SONY (7669).

Thank you. "

If I could actually see that idiot blue on black (Something Freudian here?) I may have actually noticed there was no slash symbol.

I can hardly wait to see just how tackey (no pun intended) that sticker will be. I'd prefer to see some kind of sticker that would show all of the Fn characters in a color code I could see without using a Halogen lamp.

That's interesting. When I press the "K" key while holding the function key, I get a backslash "\", not a forward slash "/". My keyboard is dyslexic!

the Forward Slash "/" is FN+M

I see that iceman, but according to billdupont, Sony says this:

"Some of the earlier production units have been shipped with an incorrect keyboard. The '¥' printed on the keyboard corresponds to a ' / ' (forward slash)."

When I press the key next to that symbol, I get a backslash, not a forward slash as Sony states. Maybe they are dyslexic!

Sorry,

I just cut and pasted from Sony's site without further testing.

I get a back slash also.

Maybe on the other side of the date line, forward and backward switch places.

I'll endeavor to test what Sony reports before I post next time.

I am pretty sure Circuit City will exchange the unit as long as they do no longer have it on the new demo models. (smile)

Does anyone out there have the "right" symbol under the K? I would guess that a lot of us got the earlyer ones and that means the "defective" ones. I'm sueing.... for damages AND pain and suffering :D

Though... I AM wondering if the reworked unit with the appropiate symbol, ALSO might have a longer battery life by any chance..?

Sounds like something got lost in the translation and then Sony forgot one besides :)!

I just tried this on my NZ90--I got the funny looking Y with the 2 lines on it.

Did anyone else get this??

Weird.

Speaking of little faults, does every one else have the Clie "remoto control in the Clie launcher?

That is happened only when you all had bought it early or In US. My NZ's set which bought from last saturday(22 Mar 2003) in Singapore had all the correct symbols and keys.

i also had that on my NX70. Now, my NZ displays the correct Remote Control text. I dont know if i would actually return my unit for one that displays the correct symbol with FN+K, since I probably NEVER will need to use that symbol in my everyday life. If I do, I'll probably find it on the built-in Virtual Keyboard or On-Screen one.

japanese one-byte system uses "¥" instead of the "\". Any japanese programming book is full of ¥s.
