I'm looking for a password-protected JPEG image viewer. Encryption would be nice, too, but I could live without it. It would obviously have to be color, and hi-res for my T-615.
I've heard AcidImage and SplashPhoto recommended. Anybody with personal experience with these, or is there better software out there?

yeah I used AcidImage, and it works great, at least my mom was never able to get into it :D

I used splash photo but that was a year or so ago. At that time it didn't have password or 'private'. I may now. Anyone?

AcidImage works great along with your Palm security settings. I've found that if you have your Palm set to hide rather than mask private records though, you will not be able to access your porn (I mean private) pictures, until you change the Palm security settings to either hide or show. The hidden option works best for AcidImage. It will display a lock picture and when you tap the image, it prompts for a password.

Both AcidImage and SplashPhoto allow password protecting images, but be forewarned, if you have more than one image viewer on your device, setting them as private in one does not prevent the other app from viewing them. I don't know of any that use encryption for images.
Handstory also allow you to set images as private and it seems to use it's own file format, so other apps can't read Handstory images. The disadvantage is Handstory image files are much larger than comparable jpg files.

I tried Handstory about a year ago and it gave me a fatal error. I wonder if that's been fixed, or if it was just my particular setup?

I use AcidImage and it has a "private folder" setting which is tied to your palm hide/mask/show password. It will hide the folder from being viewed within AcidImage by default (hide).
This is fairly simple security feature, but I think it would be enough. Encrypting the jpeg file would add more to the processing time (and on a T615C - it's not that fast!).

Interestingly enough, now that I've replaced my T615 with an NX70, I noticed that Clieviewer will display all of my images. So I deleted Clieviewer and kept AcidImage, which maintains my privacy for me.
Maybe you can mask/hide stuff with Clieviewer, but I didn't see any need to keep it and AcidImage, too.

I know you don't need to keep any pictures private, but to hide images, just check the private box in the "image detail" screen. The image detail screen is tricky to find. The image has to be displayed, tap the lower edge of the screen to activate the task bar select the menu icon select "Options"-"Image Detail". If you have a fixed grafitti area, just tap the menu icon while the image is being displayed. After the private box is checked, from the main menu of Splashphoto, tap the menu icon select "Options"- "Security" and elect to hide private items. Splashphoto uses the built in Palm security and password.;)

cryptofile makes it possible to crypt a directory containg jpg. it if not a strong encryption but better than a private tag. http://www.avaricum.net.
PS: Sure, it is for porn files!
I put all of private apps in MegaLauncher lock tab. It will ask you to enter a password to open that folder, as you see here (http://www.cliesource.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=441&papass=&sort=1&thecat=500) when you tap the key tab on the left top corner of screen.
